DEAR SEPHORA: Please make your store brand both Vegan and Cruelty-Free as soon as possible. Please also update your website as soon as possible to make Vegan and Cruelty-Free products searchable/filterable (not just certain items you've decided to label as "clean"). This is not just a passing fad, trend, or wave. This is a huge, heart-based, worldwide MOVEMENT. Huge numbers of people around the world are getting more educated about food, chemicals, ingredients, consumerism, animal testing, and no longer want to support or pay for cruelty to innocent, sentient beings. I would like to make this post essentially a POLL by asking that each person who agrees with these two requests to please leave a "heart" on this discussion, and if you feel so inclined also add a note about why, or feel free to include your own ideas if you would like to expand on this subject. I know there have been other discussions posted about asking for a vegan/cruelty-free subscription box, or asking the company to make a filter for only vegan/cruelty-free brands so that searching for products is easier, but I have seen very little response from the company about this matter and it is truly sad to me that Sephora has chosen to be rather callous and behind the times with such an important matter that is truly quite a serious concern to a large (and growing) portion of their customers. There really is no downside to this request, as it would surely elevate Sephora in the eyes of the public as a more environmentally-conscious company, attract more customers, raise awareness about this issue even more, and solidify their position as an industry leader, which would of course influence many of the brands whose products they carry to follow in their footsteps with these efforts. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, SEPHORA? PLEASE MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE AND LET US KNOW YOU CARE. THANK YOU!

I’m looking for a clean serum. I’m currently using a moisturizer from dhc their orange tub that has 40x vitamin c than other moisturizer. It has helped my skim but I would like to try a new serum and exfoliator. Currently I DIY my own exfoliator by using brown sugar, olive oil and salt or white sugar for smaller granules. I’m opening to hearing your suggestions. thanks 😊

From what I see online Marvis toothpaste doesn’t seem to have Fluoride listed as an ingredient, but it’s also not listed as Fluoride free either. I know fluoride is considered controversial but I would rather use it then take a chance of having my teeth all fall out. Can someone please clear up this confusion for me? If I’m going to buy luxury toothpaste I want to make sure it is going to protect my teeth!

It needs to be known that MICA is a common ingredient that creates the glow/blinding effect in makeup at a cost: child labor! Children in India are working in terrible conditions to mine for mica for less than 25cents a day. There are about 10 (if not more) deaths per month in these mines. The bottom line: these kids are working just to be able to eat... they are trapped in this endless cycle of poverty. Without the job, they will stay hungry. My opinion: Children should not have to be working! The Indian government should be making/improving more jobs with safe working conditions and livable wages for parents so they can feed their families & send their children to school. These are basic necessities. I understand mica is a very common ingredient not just in makeup and by boycotting mica will collapse many industries. I also understand if these kids don’t work, they would starve. I would love if we could live in a perfect world but my wish is simple: fight child labor with LIVABLE WAGES and SAFE working conditions for adults. I want to ask YOU: How can we can combat child labor in the makeup industry?

Reality is that it is better to invest in 5 good products one at a time rather than buying a bunch of things that are cheap, skin doesn't forgive. In my opinion you need to through all your products and start over. I am going to give you a good formula based on what you are exposing and based on my experience. Some products are in Sephora and some are not. Look for brands that have more balanced, natural and gentle approach like FRESH, ELEPHANT, CAUDALIE and combine then with once a week stronger resurfacing serum. DENNIS GROSS chemical peel towels will work for you as long as you use it gently and every very few days. Another resurfacing treatment that can work for you and that I personally love because is gentle and it works is the resurfacing serum that comes in a hot pink and white dispenser will make a miracles for you. Use that at night. Also the Baby Facial from ELEPHANT. In the morning apply vitamin C and B5, I personally love the vitamin C from OBAGI and an hidrating B5 serum in drops from SKIN CEUTICALS. Make sure you protect your pores before applying makeup. Use the DIOR prep is like a pinkish cream and is high quality. Ordinary has good and affordable LACTIC ACIDS and GLYCOLIC ACIDS that you could definetly benefit from... Marula Oil from ELEPHANT is a great product. Rosa Mosqueta oil if it's pure it's great, any brand that is zero additives "rosehip oil". As a final note, make sure to use the best make up and medium to light weight, maybe a BB CREAM would be better for you for the 80 per cent of the week. Apply SPF EVERY DAY. OBAGI, has a non greasy good one. If the shiny bothers you, get a translucent setting powder, one that has good in it. GIVENCHY has the best translucent powder, no reactions... You need to start taking seriously the products you use in your face. Toners from obagi are good too. Make sure the products respect your skin and do not maje it worst. Get what you need the most, eliminate the products you have, and for the rest get samples while you get one by one the good quality products, at your own budget pace. Good luck I hope it helps!

I have used so many toners now and have ended changing them because they give me red bumps or milia. Right now I am using Thayers witch hazel with aloe vera and cucumber. I had an old bottle at home and checked the ingredients and it's all natural. I saw visible changes (smaller pores and hydrated) after the 3-4th day. It definitely refreshes my skin immediately. I went to buy another bottle, and saw they changed their formula, sadly. They added phenoxyethanol (in low concentrations )which I don't mind much, but I was so happy find a toner with all natural ingredients and not an enormous list of manufactured chemicals. We'll see how this new formula acts on my skin.

For natural brands I would recommend Burts Bees, YesTo, Boscia, and Belif. But if you were looking for specific products for her, I would get her a face wash, a moisturizer, a blemish serum, and a fun face mask because all kids love to use the face masks. I would get a face wash from YesTo, either the Yes To Cucumbers Soothing Daily Gentle Cleanser, or the Yes To blueberries Foaming Face Cleanser. For moisturizer, I would get the one from the Belif brand. the
BELIF - The True Cream Aqua Bombis literally sooo good. My 13 year old daughter uses it and loves it. But if you were going for something less expensive, Neutrogena makes a Hydro Boost gel moisturizer exactly like it, but you said that you want natural products so I would stick with the Belif one. And ahhhh, acne. Getting into fights about wanting to use every single acne wash on the planet and scrub for 2 hours trying to get rid of it. But it wont help. The best thing she can do for her skin is to make a routine and stick with it, because if she changes it a whole bunch she will get acne if she doesn't have it already. But, there is something you can do to help speed up the healing process of getting rid of those pesky pimples, and that is a spot treatment. Once again, you need natural products so Burt's Bees has acne treatments like their Herbal Complexion Stick or their Targeted Spot Treatment serum or their Maximum Strength spot Treatment Cream. And finally, the fun face masks. Boscia is a cool brand for teens that is natural. They have quite a few face masks so you can go ahead and choose one you like. I would recommend BOSCIA - Luminizing Black Charcoal Maskfor her. I really hope this helped. Also, if she is wearing some makeup like clear or brown mascara, blush, and lipgloss she can remove it naturally using some olive oil on a cotton ball, or dip her fingers into some coconut oil and massage it all over her face and eyes. I really hope this helps you and your daughter, I love to help kids who aren't quite sure about what to get because I would have liked that when I was a kid. Hope this helps!

I went through a Josie Maran phase where I bought her foundation that I used down to empty and all her oils, cleansing oil and moisturizers and wasting my 500 points on her gift sets that I gave away or never used up. I had to mix her foundation with face oil todilute it down each time though because it was so thick and concentratedso I got a lot of bang out of my buck. Absolutely adore her shade range. I still love that foundation and it’s the only foundation to date that matches me PERFECTLY (COSMIC is sooo me I wish other companies made that shade exactly!!) while still adding luminosity in the winter and kept me protected in winter weather so well if I must wear makeup. However I don’t wear foundation regularly anymore to let my skin breathe more. Honestly her argan oils never worked the best for me and I usea LOTof face oils these days from other brands with my combination aging skin that are amazing and DOESNT clog my pores (I have large pores in T zone area which I tighten up with the products I use so they don’t look so large). I think her product packaging is beautiful. I think the problem with Josie Maran is the line is stuck in a time warpto the idea of Argan oil as the one and only and needs to branch out and be more innovative with other ingredients.

Hi All!!! I just wanted to make mention that those of us with allergies need to be mindful of ingredients but more specifically if you have a ragweed allergy (particularly a bad one) you will want to stay away from ingredients like camomile, calendula, daisies, marigolds, hibiscus and others. Unfortunately, these are all a part of the ragweed family and could be causing your skin issues if you aren’t looking out for them in your skincare, so make sure to check. Anyway, as someone who has to look out for this I thought I’d share the information. Hope this helps some of you lovelies 💕. simply about me

@LalaMK I live in a desert area, very hot, very dry, lots of sunshine so I totally understand your concern. The heat + makeup for me doesn't ever break me out but a sunburn is more likely. I would say your first priority would be to make sure your skin is protected from the sun and the lack of humidity. I tend to really focus on my skincare the night before, using layers of hydration and appropriate products for my skin type (oily + sensitive). Getting your skin ready the night before will help prepare you for the sun and heat the next day. Sunscreen as I'm sure you know is a must. You can absolutely do a full face of makeup if you'd like, just make sure you're using sweat-proof products and setting everything, usually spritzing something like Uban Decay's All Nighter in between steps. Cream products would be my suggestion, maybe something like Nudestix that can work for eyes, cheeks, and lips. Take along a hydrating spray to keep your makeup looking fresh (and drink lots of water) and maybe some blotting tissues for any extra shine, then grab a cool sun hat, some shades and I'm sure you'll be looking great!
