Yes I completely agree because I have to do more digging to determine if the item is cruelty free. I also try to stay away from companies that may have cruelty free mandates but are ruled by parent companies that test on animals like Tarte and Urban Decay. 😶😐

I’m travelling for a month and will be in desert climate. I’m worried that if I wear makeup I’ll break out because of how hot it will be. Does anyone have an recommendations for products (must be Clean at Sephora)? I want to still look alive but without wearing all the regular stuff (moisturizer, primer, foundation, concealer, translucent powder, bronzer, blush) Thank you!!

Hi, all! I inquired about this product in another community but did not get responses so wondered if it was more fitting for this group.  Let me know if you tried this product and if it is hydrating, full coverage without patches or skipping, long lasting , bleeds and if it wears off as a stain. Thank you so much!!! Really appreciate it.

@Tinachim I would get a good skincare routine down, doesn't necessarily need to be involved. When you start with makeup, you'll need a good remover before a cleanser - not all break makeup completely or at all. Long wearing and water resistant/proof is harder to remove, even if it's just a standalone spf..which should be worn daily to get adequate protection and best anti ager. As for makeup, get samples at Sephora and department store counters. They both can color match. For foundation, swipe from jawline to neck, the one that blends in completely us the match, *but* check in all types of lighting- lighting is key..everything changes in lighting, even wall colors. Also learn your undertone, some shades complement, others wash out, depending on undertone. Sephora does offer classes or could find your own MUA that teaches on you.

First off I’ll describe my skin. I have redness issues which I think are bits of rosacea trying to ruin my life and I also have combo skin with those dry flaky patches that just love to mess with makeup. Anyhoo, here’s what I use: -Avene Antirougers cleansing lotion using Clarisonic with radiance brush -Clarins chamomile toner (AM) -The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + hyaluronic acid (PM) -Skinceuticals CE Ferulic -Skinceuticals B5 + hyaluronic acid hydrator -La Roche Posay (chemical) sunscreen (AM) -First Aid Beauty Ultra repair -Avene thermal spring water spray for extra hydration -Drink lots and lots of water -Humidifier next to bed I have every intention of using a face oil at night I just haven’t chosen one for my skin. Every now and then when the dry flakes creep up despite my best efforts I’ll use a facial peeling exfoliator by Nubi skin but there are cheaper dupes that do the same thing. If there’s ones thing I recommend splurging on, it’s the skinceuticals B5 hydrator. I’ve never had a B5 gel quite as amazing and I’ve tried numerous including Drunk Elephant which burned my skin. Happy skin to you

@katiekat2000 I LOVE Big Dipper Wax Works, my favorites are the peppermint lavendar, grapefruit spruce, and the cedarwood balsam. They're not as woodsy as you might be imagining because the beeswax adds its own mellow scent to the mix. You have to buy online, but they offer a sampler of all their scents in a votive size here:https://www.bigdipperwaxworks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=6&ParentCat=7

I like most of the products that I've tried from REN, like the REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Evercalm™ Anti-Redness Serum and REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Evercalm™ Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask. Their products are usually under $50 or you can find them on Dermstore, which does sales relatively often. I've recently started using the Acure Seriously Soothing Solid Face Serum and honestly it's really good. It is very oily but hasn't clogged my pores and it's really good for when your skin is sensitive. Their line is available online and in Target. I definitely want to try more from them. I like Burts Bees blushes, they blend great. I also really love all the face products from RMS like RMS BEAUTY - Un Cover-Up Concealer/Foundation, RMS BEAUTY - Buriti Bronzer and RMS BEAUTY - Living Luminizer. You don't get a lot of product for your money but they are really amazing and give you that glowy skin, model off duty look. Other brands that are natural but I haven’t tried much from: Pacifica and Youth to the People (most products are under $50).

Tatcha is a product I avoid for a number of reasons mainly: -Butylene Glycol, a paraben - which can be a hormone disruptor- Fragrance - a pthalate - have been known to potentially damage certain organ structures, *note that they tend to use fragrance and not "fragrance* *from naturally derived XYZ-Phenoxyethanol: a preservative derived from phenols, i.e. coal tar. These are also toxic. Many of Tatcha's products contain these ingredients and thus should really be removed or reconsidered to be in Sephora's "clean" line.However: -Biossance (*I adore this brand)-Herbivore-Farmacy  seem to be pretty solid brands. There are many lists out there regarding lists of beauty ingredients to avoid, whereafter you can do your own digging to see which ingredients seem like hype or which you agree with.Hope this helps!

I’ve been on the same hunt as you as most sunscreens are loaded with dimethicone/silicones and I don’t think they are good for our skin. One I’m trying right now is the Coola brand sun silk drops, so far I really like it. It’s only SPF 30 but for the winter that’s ok for me. They have a whole line and some that are SOF 50!!

If you are looking for a resource to know what brands are cruelty free and don’t sell in countries where animal testing is required, I highly suggest the Logical Harmony website! She has a cruelty free list that takes this into account AND even mentions if a cruelty free company is owned by a parent company that tests so you can avoid those brands too if that’s important to you.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe gluten intolerances cause anaphylaxis, which nut and bee allergies do. If that's the case, contact would not cause symptoms. Barley is used in some products (hordeumvulgare), but it would take contact *allergy* for that to be of concern. Companies don't label skin products for nut oils, which actually can kill people. Sephora doesn't either. I'd be shocked if any of them skipped that and labeled for gluten.
