Beauty Supplements - Any actual science behind them?

I have noticed a lot of stores selling beauty products have started adding more and more supplements. From what I have read so far there have not been many conclusive studies on most of the ingredients in these items like biotin, tumeric, etc. I see in reviews a lot of anecdotes from users of the products stating there hair is thicker or their skin is glowing, but then I read articles like this: https://www.vox.com/2018/4/9/17199164/beauty-vitamin-collagen-turmeric-biotin.

Is there anyone with links to studies on beauty supplements or any doctors or nutritionists in the community with an opinion on this subject? So far, it seems the supplements don't do anything, but some can actually cause serious side effects including liver damage. Any information is much appreciated.

Re: Beauty Supplements - Any actual science behind them?

I’ve been taking one 5,000 mcg softgel,  3 times a day hoping they’d help my nails.  Nothing’s changed over the last 8 months.  I’ve considered keratin softgels but I can’t get past their smell of rancid beef.
