Subscription box photo sharing

I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies!

(I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I was disappointed with mineSmiley Sad it was my first one too unfortunately. I got the cuticle oil which I can't see myself using, but i got really excited at first because I never tried butter London and I thought it was polish. I also got some lip primer which I thought was ok... I would have been more excited for the stila gloss! But my birchbox was pretty neat this month, I got heat spray (for hair) and it smells like spicy cinnamon, it's so delicious.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I was a little disappointed that my gift sub turned out to be exactly the same as my regular Glossybox. It could work out nicely if I like the items though. The people in my TSB could benefit if I do not.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Oh, that is a bit of a bummer, but you're right, hopefully you'll love most of it.  And, if not, you still have $50 to spend on something you know you'll like.

I'm wearing the perfume right now, and I think I smell like a candle that's burning -- it's a very distinctive scent. :./

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I am curious to see if others who bought gift subs ended up with the exact same boxes as their regular ones, so hopefully someone will chime in.  If so, I wonder if it was intentional, so the gift giver can discuss the items with the gift recipient (I am assuming they did not intend for people to buy extra boxes for themselves).  Anyway, I did get $50 in gift certificates, so all of those expensive samples were free in my opinion (although I also told my husband that the $49 Tom Ford lipstick I ordered was free, so I cannot have it both ways I guess).  Very rarely do I start a sample right after receiving it (because I have so many), but I am already using the eye serum.  It seems all right so far.  That dupe will get used for sure.  I recently used a lipstick straight from my Birchbox and the shampoo and conditioner straight from a box too, so I guess I am doing a little better.

The perfume dupe will likely go in a TSB even if I like the scent.  I just do not use a lot of perfume.  The funny thing is I cannot really tell from your comment if you like or dislike it, but I am leaning toward dislike?

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I've ordered a Glossybox gift for a friend before, and 3 of the 5 products were the same.  Before she even thanked me she was already using the products, go figure.  I guess that's how it's done.  I'm trying to do better too.  All the subscription boxes and even stuff from Sephora usually aren't used right away.  I get the inquiry asking to review a product and I rarely answer because I don't know.  I guess I just like getting stuff!  Speaking of which, where is UPS with my Urban Decay stuff.

Tom Ford is an excellent choice. I'm trying to hold out for my other gift certificate before placing an order.

I didn't really know how I was feeling about the perfume.  However, I've since showered, and I'm glad I don't smell like that anymore. So, now I know for sure, I don't like it.  :.(   Too bad because it's a nice size.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I am the exact same way.  Unless I am really anxious to try something, I have not tried 95% of the items in the are you ready to review emails from subscription boxes, Sephora or other retailers.  That includes items I paid full price for.  It really is sad, but I buy things way before I plan on using them at times.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

My Birchbox arrived, and I love it.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I LOVE Miss Jessie's. I went on their website once and requested some samples (shampoo and conditioner) and they were so....I can't find the right word, lol. My hair felt so pampered!

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I cannot wait to try it.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Seven days later and I'm STILL jealous of your box!! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I have already tried two items (the gloss and the Egyptian Magic). They're both nice.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Some brands for the July Glossy Box:

Glam Glow

Skin Inc

Malin & Goetz

the Aloe Source

Nail Girls

Philip B

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Well, that sounds like something to look forward to!

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Glam Glow?? Is it too late to sign up?? XD

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

No, but be careful - I think if you sign up now, you might get the June box first.

Wait until after the first of July to sign up just to be sure.

And also, usually there's 8-10 different products, so you're not guaranteed anything specific. Just want to make sure you're not expecting one specific item. In general, the items they send out are great, so it's hard to be disappointed.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Yeah, I signed up last week thinking I would skip June and just take a chance on July but then discovered a few days ago that June was being shipped to me. So I'll be getting 3 boxes from them next month (June, July, and a full-size online order)! But I'm so excited to see GlamGlow on the list! I'm glad I changed my mind about purchasing a sample-pack from the official site.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I'm pretty happy with this month's Birchbox! I mean, the only product I'm excited to try is the lipgloss (everything else seems just OK), but I love that they included a free subscription to Women's Health! (and you can request a $9.99 rebate if you don't want the subscription). I haven't subscribed to any magazines in a while and I was planning on restarting all of my fashion + health/fitness subs again, so that bonus completely made up for the so-so selection this month.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Did you get to select that lip gloss or were you just lucky?  I never saw a selection email, and by the time I saw it discussed on the sneak peek, it was too late.

Highlighted

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I remember getting to select a lip gloss, but I can't remember if that's the one I chose, lol. They also let me pick out a nail polish, but I never got one in my box.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Thanks.  I will keep my eyes peeled for an email this month.  I am reading every one.  I know they would have sent me a nail polish (like I wanted), because I already received the gloss in the past (and hope to try it at some point).  The color of yours looks prettier than mine though.  It would he hilarious if they were the same.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

So, I threw out the little booklet that came in my birch box by accident-- is that where the information on subscribing to the magazine or getting the rebate is? I'm debating if I should go diving into our outdoor trashcan for it!

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

My glossybox arrived today too. Trying to decide if I'm going to renew for another 3 months. Even though I don't use EVERYTHING I get, I like this box a lot more than Ipsy, which i'm probably going to cancel.

Anyways. I probably won't use the first 3 items.

I got that serum in a previous box (surprised they're repeating a product). I haven't used the other one, so idk if I'm going to keep this one or put it in a TSB.

I don't like glamglow, so that might go in a TSB, and probably the hair product too.

But I love body/hand creams, and lip balms, so i'll be trying both of those tonight.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

If you put that GlamGlow into the TSB I'm hoping you're referring to, I will gladly take it off your hands.  I am right after you too, so it will be mine for sure.

I do not know what I think about the hair product either, but it will be a long time before I find out.  I have 2 open now thanks to my unwillingness to wait on trying It's a 10.  I gave the lip balm to my husband, because I have more lip balms than I know what to do with.  Although, that did not stop me from trying to order a La Mer one recently.  Someone said it was better than By Terry, and it is $5 cheaper.  I figured I must try it, but I was proud of myself for not buying it.  That is until someone reads this and tells me I have to get it.

The body lotion is $61 for 6 ounces, so I am afraid to try it.  $10 an ounce for body lotion.  I'd go broke trying to replace that every few weeks assuming it is incredible.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

Yupp, that's the one. I'll put it aside so I don't forget to put it in Smiley Happy

I just finished an It's a 10 a couple of weeks ago (the keratin one, i think) I liked it but it wasn't a big difference. But, I have curly hair and already use a bunch of other products, so maybe that's why.

I like trying fancy body lotions, but I probably wouldn't go and purchase one (which is why I like getting them in glossy box.) Josie's body cream is probably the most expensive one I have/one I wouldn't mind repurchasing. Actually, after I finish all of the ones in my collection that'll be the main one I keep buying..

started rambling haha, sorry. Anyways I tried the body cream last night and it smells AWFUL. After 10 minutes my hands felt really dry. Tried it again this morning and the same thing happened. Bummer.

But I used the lip balm last night, and it stayed on throughout the night, and was still on when I woke up. Doubt i'll go out of my way to buy another one, but i'll finish it up.

Re: Subscription box photo sharing

I tried the body cream too and completely agree! Hate the scent nothing else special about it. I guess I was optimistic after loving the body butter from last month's box, but definitely not a keeper.

I was, however, super pumped to see the promo for last month's AYRES Patagonia come in this morning because I would like to buy more of that.

And I surprisingly did love the MALIN+GOETZ lip balm as well. Good texture, seems to stay put and a pretty good gloss finish.
