Hi All! 

We are long overdue for an updated Subscription Sharing thread!  Whether it's BoxyCharm, Ipsy, or PopSugar we want to hear (and see) all about what you are subscribed to.

Interested in trading with other users?  Here are some things you need to know from @SydBristow and her trade threads:

IMPORTANT NOTE: To comply with Sephora's terms of use, items cannot be listed "for sale" or even for trade for Sephora or other gift cards. Please do not list "prices" either (which implies selling), but you can list approximate trade value.

Because a number of fake items have been sent in trades, it is strongly advised you provide photos of your higher-end items, including the labeling (you may be asked for it anyway) and list WHERE you purchased the item from. Fakes are readily available from less reputable sellers and can contain toxins! It is important to everyone to know where their cosmetics come from.

Please also be aware that some makeup products cannot be sanitized - please use caution in your trades. When in doubt, ask the community, it's a great resource! Used items you may wish to avoid are mascara, liquid eyeliner, lip glosses, and cream products.

Acquiring Items
Please use discretion with whom you enter into trades with. There is a summarized list of trusted traders here: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/List-of-Successful-Traders-January-2015/td-p/1852954 Protect yourself in your trades, ask questions (such as where an item was purchased), ask for additional photos (to show level of usage and/or labeling to prove authenticity).
If you don’t feel 100% comfortable doing a trade because someone is new, you can request they send their items first.

Communication
Please use the private message system on Beauty Talk and/or tag the user you are trying to get in touch with. Communication is key! You can tell a lot about a trade by how the communication goes. If you will be unavailable for any periods of time, please be up front, and if there are any issues with shipping please be up front about that as well.

Delivery
Having tracking and insurance on shipments goes a long way to figuring out where an item might be. The USPS puts anticipated delivery dates and tracking numbers right on the receipt. If there is any issue with an item you have sent out, please follow up with the carrier.

I had it right when it launched, but ended up cancelling all of my Ipsy subs (I was getting all 3!) because it was just too much product.  I'm also considering  cancelling Boxycharm because they haven't wowed me in a while.  @niki172

@Tamara76 I wound up getting Glam Bag X last month and it was fantastic! I got 2 Patrick Ta blushes, (one was an add on) Glow Recipe Watermelon Mist setting spray, the Huda Beauty Rose Gold remastered palette that I did not own, and a jar of 111Skin moisturizer among other things I can't remember. I only have the one box now (being Glam Bag Plus that changes to X 4 times a year) and this last box was my absolute favorite I've ever gotten. I know I have plenty of makeup and stuff that I really have no need for any sub boxes, but IPSY has introduced me to some fabulous products I would have never tried before.

I didn’t @niki172 but as an aside I will be anxious to see what you get! Spoilers did look good.  Was trying to behave tho I do like some of the other goodies I get. Some hit or miss also. Have been trying to decide if continuing it this year in effort to save some $! ( And since I signed up for Beauty Pie and have Allure still. ) So keep me posted!

December was a little disappointing. There's one or two things per box I like, but for the most part, nothing I super love, except for the YSL/KA stuff in the CBB (but I wished I picked different items for the rest, in retrospect). Here's to January being better. I'm doing an inventory, so see how the last 6 months have been and whether I want to cancel any.

Thank you, @ShanShanMa85!! I actually haven't used either of them 😅. Lol, too many palettes, too little time.

The 9 pan is from Suva Beauty (which is a brand I like), it's the Saffron palette. I haven't used it yet, but I like the Rose Period palette from them. 

The 12 pan is Neon Drip by Poppi Cosmetics. I haven't tried anything from this brand yet.

My ipsy GBP. I chose the nail polish, ciate in that particular shade & the dominique highlighter. The masks & iby palette were addons. I was so nervous the palette was going to be smashed because now they ship everything in a bubble mailer. But luckily it was ok. Phew!  ☺

A little too late to post November’s Detox Box but in my defence this month hasn’t been easy so far.

This month’s featured brand was Kora organics and box contained two full size products

Ipsy Acquires Beauty Subscription Competitor Boxycharm
The combined business is expected to have $1 billion in sales.

Ipsy is acquiring Boxycharm. 

The companies will live under new parent company Beauty for All Industries, which expects more than $1 billion in sales for 2020. 

Marcelo Camberos, cofounder and chief executive officer of Ipsy, said the deal allows Ipsy to strengthen its “position in the personalized beauty ecosystem.” 

Ipsy was cofounded by Michelle Phan, one of the first major content creators on YouTube. The business started with Glam Bags, which contain full-sized beauty products, and gradually branched into other areas, like e-commerce and its own brands. The company has been backed by private equity firm TPG since 2015, and reached $500 million in sales in 2019. 

“Both brands share a commitment to celebrating diversity and enabling inclusion through beauty, which our world needs more than ever today,” said Camberos in a statement. “Joe [Martin, Boxycharm’s founder] has built an amazing business and an avid community of beauty enthusiasts. BoxyCharm has always pushed us to be better and now that we’re under one roof, we’re looking forward to growing and innovating together.” 

BoxyCharm has picked up steam in recent years, and has used influencers to help build buzz around new beauty products. 

Martin will continue to lead Boxycharm, and will also join the BFAI board as a cofounder. Jennifer Goldfarb, Ipsy cofounder, will also become BFAI chairwoman and cofounder. 

sy and Boxycharm, as well as Ipsy’s brand incubator Madeby Collective, will all operate separately under the BFAI umbrella. 

Later this year BFAI plans to launch another subscription, Refreshments, that will provide “clean essentials” like face wipes, hand cream, body cream and body wash. That business will be managed by Ipsy president Fernando Madeira and managed by Sabeen Mian as senior vice president. 

Going forward, the collective business will be focused on personalizing experiences using member data and machine learning, merchandising third-party brands, developing fast-to-market products informed by member data, engaging the content-creation community and investing in leadership, technology, operations and customer service. 

The BoxyCharm deal is expected to close by the end of the year. Morgan Stanley advised BoxyCharm on the deal. The business had been backed by private equity firm KarpReilly since 2017 

MySubscriptionAddiction summarized the following points:

• BoxyCharm and Ipsy will continue to operate as separate subscriptions
• The newly merged companies will launch a personal care subscription called Refreshments

Glad I was able to finally able to get into the community to see this. I’ve been meaning to cancel my boxycharm subscription for awhile. This was going to be my last month for the ND exclusive palette. Now I will wait to see how this plays out.

Whoa, I’ve been a subscriber for Boxycharm for awhile.  I’ve chosen them because I don’t like sample sizes and honestly don’t need more beauty bags.  I’ll be curious how this purchase will change the subscription service.

October Detoxbox was based of RMS beauty products and had a retail value of C$132 .

I wanted to try the brand so I’m glad to get it. Eye polish isn’t my k8nd of colour so I wish I could exchange or trade it with a different shade.
