Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Hi All!

We are long overdue for an updated Subscription Sharing thread!  Whether it's BoxyCharm, Ipsy, or PopSugar we want to hear (and see) all about what you are subscribed to.

Interested in trading with other users?  Here are some things you need to know from @SydBristow and her trade threads:

IMPORTANT NOTE: To comply with Sephora's terms of use, items cannot be listed "for sale" or even for trade for Sephora or other gift cards. Please do not list "prices" either (which implies selling), but you can list approximate trade value.

Because a number of fake items have been sent in trades, it is strongly advised you provide photos of your higher-end items, including the labeling (you may be asked for it anyway) and list WHERE you purchased the item from. Fakes are readily available from less reputable sellers and can contain toxins! It is important to everyone to know where their cosmetics come from.

Please also be aware that some makeup products cannot be sanitized - please use caution in your trades. When in doubt, ask the community, it's a great resource! Used items you may wish to avoid are mascara, liquid eyeliner, lip glosses, and cream products.

Acquiring Items
Please use discretion with whom you enter into trades with. There is a summarized list of trusted traders here: Protect yourself in your trades, ask questions (such as where an item was purchased), ask for additional photos (to show level of usage and/or labeling to prove authenticity).
If you don’t feel 100% comfortable doing a trade because someone is new, you can request they send their items first.

Please use the private message system on Beauty Talk and/or tag the user you are trying to get in touch with. Communication is key! You can tell a lot about a trade by how the communication goes. If you will be unavailable for any periods of time, please be up front, and if there are any issues with shipping please be up front about that as well.

Having tracking and insurance on shipments goes a long way to figuring out where an item might be. The USPS puts anticipated delivery dates and tracking numbers right on the receipt. If there is any issue with an item you have sent out, please follow up with the carrier.

Consider providing your feedback on successful trades on this thread here:

Beauty wise, I have Boxycharm and Play! I've looked at others but I just can't convince myself I need them. I also got a sub to Snackcrate for Xmas.

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

I currently have Sephora Play and Allure. I signed up for Allure a few months ago when they had the favorites box and I must say that I have really enjoyed that subscription. I use more products from the Allure box than the Play one. Don’t get me wrong, I have gotten some great stuff in the Play boxes but recently they’ve been misses. If the December box isn’t to my liking, I may cancel.

I have tried 3 other subscription services: Birchbox, Petit Vour, and BeautyDNA. None of them worked for me. I would recommend avoiding BeautyDNA like the plague. That subscription was nothing but problems. Over 6 months, I only received 1 item I could use. They repeatedly sent me items that had ingredients that I said I did not want in my survey because I am allergic to them. The first item I received, I had a serious allergic reaction to (burning, itching, rash, inflammation, swelling) so they sent me the same item the next month even though I had previously emailed to tell them what happened. Every single month I had to email them because there was a problem. Their customer service team was great and always tried to fix the issues but it typically took a week to get a response from them.

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@teufel I now have allure and play! I just signed up for allure.

Good question @KNC24! I'm curious to see what everyone is subscribed to. I am only subscribed to BoxyCharm at the moment (with a possibility that I'll join Allure for a month or two 😉). I was subscribed to Play for a bit but was NOT impressed so that had to go.

RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@KNC24 I have Play!, Boxycharm, Ipsy and Allure. They’re the best, in my opinion!

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Thanks @darlyndar for your input. I just signed up for allure. I kinda like play. If there is a better option, I am open to suggestions.

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@KNC24 I’ve researched a few subscription boxes and to me, these are the best. Boxycharm always has a waiting list but is definitely the best deal out of all of them. The Allure box this month and next month are actually pretty amazing!

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Currently birchbox and allure. Going to let my 12 month birchbox lapse at the first of the year, though. Re-subscribed to allure with the black friday 3 month and bonus box promo. Non beauty I also have fabletics, adore me, and hello fresh- all of which I skip the week/month on much more than I use.

I have had sephora play and fabfitfun in the past. Now that I have a mass of beauty products and samples that I won't get through during this lifetime even when I donate/gift a lot of things. I do watch fabfitfun and pop sugar and order occasionally when the spoilers look good.

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

My only subscription right now is Boxycharm and my mom always sends me those target beauty boxes 🙂 so I guess that counts as well lol

I am seriously thinking of subscribing to Facetory in the new year. I've gotten really into sheet masks and I like the idea of getting to try a bunch of different ones while saving some money.

I have been subscribed to Play! and ipsy in the past but not anymore.

Re: RE: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@Kim888 I never heard of facetory but will look it up now 🤗. I wasn’t interested in Ipsy since they give some drugstore brand items.

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Not sure if you saw yet @ElleElleG  but my subscription addition posted the other two spoilers for December for BOXYCHARM!

Each box will have the Crown WH035 PRO BLUSH BRUSH and then EITHER a Beaute Basics Item (they think the bronzer) or the bellapierra Color Correcting Palette

I'm feeling a bit meh about this month - I thought i would be more holiday themed box, I was hoping for some sparkle or reds for the holidays. Oh well not every box can be good for everyone, I hope I get the bronzer I don't really color correct.

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@Kim888 Thanks for the spoilers!🤗

Hope I get the bronzer palette instead of the color correcting palette(fingers crossed!🤞)

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Thanks for the tag @Kim888

👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 LOL!  I *might* try that orange to color correct but I don't have time for that at least 95% of the time and that brush looks meh for sure.  The blush palette was already a wash for me.  Tarte's mascara, $23 full price, technically makes the box "worth it" but I need more mascara like I need a hole in the head.

Suppose the more exciting things were placed in the LE box.

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

I'm excited to try the RealHer brand...I read an article about this brand and found it inspiring.  Have been meaning to try it out!

Here's the article for reference Smiley Happy

"1 Dad Founded an Empowering Beauty Brand For His Daughter and We're Obsessed"

Bill Xaing never really considered whether or not he was a feminist — until the birth of his daughter, Yarie. When researching the best ways he could raise his daughter, he discovered an overwhelming amount of information about how society can affect a woman's upbringing.

Xaing had been working in cosmetics for a decade when his daughter was born and decided to create a beauty brand that would empower women and create a better social environment for his daughter. He created RealHer, a cosmetics brand designed to inspire women to be their best.

"When she was born, that was the moment I realized I am a feminist, and I want to be a feminist. I want to do whatever I can to make as much difference as possible, as quickly as possible, to help more women," Xaing explained on the RealHer website.

Instead of telling women that there's a problem with how they look that they should fix, this brand tells women what's amazing about them already. Each product comes with a self-affirmation like, "I am fearless," "I am unstoppable," and "I am perfect."

The line also strives to be ethical, safe, and philanthropic. Not only are the products cruelty-free, paraben-free, and sulfate-free, but 20 percent of the profits go to the American Association of University Women. The nonprofit organization is devoted to advancing, empowering, and actualization for women and girls with leadership programs, advocacy, and education.

We love the idea of a makeup brand that helps women, because beauty should make us feel good. Read on to see some of the powerful products you should pick up from the brand"

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

Cross-posting here. Thanks @Kim888 for notifying me of the new thread!

Spoilers for my December Ipsy bag came in! At first I thought I got 2 lippies and was thinking "Wow, that really matched the beauty profile I gave them!" But the chubby crayon is actually an eyeshadow. Still loving this bag altogether though! Smiley Happy

Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

The January Allure Box will include a FULL SIZE of the Sunday Riley CEO Serum ($85)!! Saw this on MSA.

I really want to try this.. what a steal! I love the regular CEO cream and hope this one works similarly 😄 I do wonder if it's not doing very well though. It was offered in the Glossybox LE Box and also as a SpaceNK GWP

RE: Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

@whitepolkydots you sold me. A full size ceo!!! I’m almost out of mini that came in a Sephora favs kit. I was literally debating on how many months to sign up for cause I want the December box.

Same here! I signed up yesterday night when I saw this. I...

Same here! I signed up yesterday night when I saw this. I will receive the November box and December box. Cant wait!!!

RE: Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

I wonder what’s going on with that ceo cream - because it was in the glossier limited edition box as well (according to my subscription addiction). Or maybe hey are being extra generous lol but I’m always suspicious when a product starts showing up in a ton of different boxes lol

Re: RE: Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

That's a good point @Kim888 !!  I wonder if it'll be in BoxyCharm too then 🤔

I ended up not getting the Glossier LE (it was on my to do list and I still managed to forget, smh) but for $10 or $15 I'll definitely take it.  Hoping to avoid signing up for more than just the January box though

Re: RE: Re: Subscription Central (Spoilers, Unboxings, and More)

I didn’t get the glossier either - I would be excited if it showed up in the January boxycharm box though!
