โThis summer has really been a scorcher! ๐ฅต But let's give everyone a better reason to sweat! Sweatin over some haulin! ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ please continue to use August haul thread until September 1st.
@CookieGirl1 for sure! It might be a little while before I get to them though, I have a bunch of other open products I'm trying to get through first ๐
My second Soko Glam order of September - I wasn't going to order again so soon, but several of my favorites were 30% off so I took advantage of the sale to stock up. The Benton serum was a free GWP.
Last (I think) round of September acquisitions: nail polishes, or why I should really go on a polish no-buy soon.
Polish Pickup - August (didnโt arrive til September):
Bluebird Lacquerโs bottle label makes me smile whenever I see it. ๐
Augustโs theme was dreamscapes. I did really well: just 3 polishes! I was so proud of myselfโand then September rolled around. ๐๐คฆโโ๏ธ This is my first Sassy Sauce polish, so itโll be fun to test on my nails. Hereโs a closeup photo of all 3 shades:
Forgot to include Mooncatโs base coat and glossy top coat, which I also got with this order.
The top 3 are from Mooncatโs Alice in Wonderland collection. The last one I bought as a consolation for missing a similar shade (House of Hades, which quickly went OOSโand I might go back and grab it now that itโs back in stock because self control, haha, whatโs that).
Starrily spoke directly to my love of plain jellies with their Jellyfish Journey collection. These jellies are truly sheer in one coat and build to nearly opaque in two coats, with no streaking. (My swatch sticks show a single coat swatch below the nail; the nail is two coats.)
Three not-plain-jelly polishes somehow snuck into my cart, including Pegasus which might be the shiniest purple metallic polish Iโve seen in person. Hereโs a closeup of that trio:
King Midas is ridiculously rainbow + gold sparkly in person.
Phoenix Oops! Mystery Bag (purchased at Beautometry):
These are mix mess-ups and/or experimental shades that didnโt make the final cut for any Phoenix collection release. I think there were 45 total possible shades, and Phoenix numbered them rather than name them. I got numbers 16 through 30. I kinda wish theyโd jumbled up the numbers in the mystery bags, but I assume that wouldโve made it harder to avoid repeats. Eh, I like everything I got so Iโm not complaining.
Closeup photos. Bottom 3rd of each image is a flash photo. 3 polishes are magnetic; the nail is magnetized and the swatch below the nail is not.
L to R: Phoenix Oops shades 16 through 20. L to R: Phoenix Oops shades 21 through 25. L to R: Phoenix Oops shades 26 through 30.
Septemberโs theme was haunted history. I think 2 of the polishes I picked are Amityville inspired, though Emberโs The House reads more Poltergeist to me. Bent Neck Ladyโs inspiration was The Haunting of Hill House. Here for the Boos was inspired by Denverโs Cheesman Park. My photos donโt capture enough of BNL and HftBโs color shifts; theyโre amazing in person. Seriously, photos do those 2 polishes zero justice.
Closeup photos. 4 polishes are magnetic; the nail is magnetized and the swatch below the nail is not.
Bottom half shows swatch sticks tilted forward a bit to try catching some color shifts. At first glance, Emberโs The House may look similar to Phoenixโs Oops 20, but the latter has a black (or blackened navy) base while the former has a turquoise base. In this comparison photo, the right side is a flash photo.
@WinglessOne love all of your polishes! I was so mad at myself that I didn't jump on Mooncat Cyborg when it was temporarily back in stock and now I'm having major regrets so I'm glad that you got some good polishes from them.
Thanks @CookieGirl1 ! And I feel you: thereโs a Live Love Polish shade I stalked but never bought, and it didnโt make the Mooncat rebrand cut. Sighโฆ sorry you missed Cyborg. ๐
Stunning polish haul @WinglessOne "That's what Sea Said", with that blue peeking through in the photos, that looks really cool! I've been eyeing up Polish Pickup for a few months, you picked up really pretty ones from the August selection.
Starrily does have beautiful packaging, that box is impressive ๐ ( so is King Midas, ooh that's a stunner!) Enjoy them all!
Thanks @CynthieLu ! I sometimes avoid looking at PPU because I know Iโll end up buying at least one polishโand Iโve never bought just one. ๐คช Thereโs also Hella Handmade Creations to consider, but for some reason Iโm better at avoiding HHCโฆ PPU usually has more things that catch my eye, despite the brand overlap. If you ever decide to buy from PPU, Iโll be interested to see what you picked!
