This summer has really been a scorcher! 🥵 But let's give everyone a better reason to sweat! Sweatin over some haulin! 🔥🔥🔥 please continue to use August haul thread until September 1st.
A few more September acquisitions. I haven’t swatched EVERYthing and don’t have feedback on all these items yet. And I still need to post all the nail polish I got this month. (Note to self.)
Kimiko and Moda Operandi:
Photo taken before I re-pressed that broken shadow.
Swatches & notes:
Kimiko:
Isamaya Industrial Palette 2.0 - of all the shadows that could arrive broken, it had to be the sparkliest glitter bomb in the palette. It made a big ol’ mess of things. 🤦♀️ I re-pressed as much of it as I could salvage. (Didn’t wanna chance getting another broken pan via exchange, considering how the weather was at the time.) Once I got all that copper sparkle off a few other pans and the palette casing, I was a happy lady. My swatch photos don’t convey the shimmer and/or outright glitter effects of these shades, let alone any of the color shifts. And the different textures will be fun to play with. I will say that if you wanna try this palette, you’d better love to sparkle, cause you’re gonna. 😄 Left: bathroom lighting. Right: flash photo.
Sephora & Ulta, minus some items I bought for other folks:
Also left out all the samples and GWP I got from Sephora.
Rouge Reward order. No, I haven’t swatched Groundwork yet; waiting til this weekend to play with it.
Swatches & a few notes:
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palette Snake - I paid Ulta $0 out of pocket for this. I wasn’t sure the blushes wouldn’t be dupes of other Hourglass blushes I already own. Now that I’ve swatch-compared a few of them, I’m glad I bought this palette. Radiant Light’s hard to see across my wrist, but it’s there.
The next 2 photos keep getting randomly cropped by BIC/Lithium. 🙄 Click on ‘em to expand to full size.
Hourglass blush comparisons.
Sun Beam’s a bit redder/cooler toned than Burnished Glow, but they’re close.
HUDA BEAUTY 1 Coat WOW! Extra Volumizing and Lifting Mascara Very Vanta - liked the mini GWP enough to buy a full size. This formula’s wet enough to sometimes get into my eyes while I wiggle the wand against the roots of my lashes. So if I see any mascara on my upper waterline (waiting to creep into my eyes), I just run a damp cotton swab along my waterline to remove it. Otherwise, I love this mascara.
NARS:
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Resist Color Pencil Eyeliner 09 Ivy - replacement of the aforementioned plastic-cased eyeliner. 🙃
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture Caring Satin Lipstick with Ceramides N157 Nu Inatendu - wore this today (technically yesterday) with good results. This reformulation is very creamy smooth and comfy, and this shade didn’t bleed or feather on me. It’s fragranced (that tea + rose scent) but not too obnoxiously. She’s potent! 😄 Gotta be very lighthanded with the powder.
Look Fantastic, Amazon, and Olive Young:
Notes:
By Terry 8HA Hyaluronic Pressed Hydra-Powder, Travel Size - By Terry recently launched a reformulation of their pressed and loose Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder; they claim this new version’s more hydrating, with more forms of hyaluronic acid in the mix. The original translucent loose version is my rockstar setting powder, so I was very concerned about a reformulation. I’m not super fond of the original pressed version though, so I decided to try a mini of the new pressed version. I’ve used it twice so far and I’m still figuring out how much I truly need to set undereye concealer (the teeniest amount of the original loose powder gives me all-day hold). But I can say this reformulation’s an improvement over the original pressed powder: it keeps my concealer in place for hours and doesn’t make my skin a desert. This gives me hope for the reformulated loose powder: maybe the brand hasn’t wrecked my longtime favorite after all. 😄 I’ll have to order a mini of that one to find out.
Abib:
Round Lab:
Seki Edge Folding Lash Pin Comb - decided to try this folding lash separator, since I can’t repurchase my beloved Sephora Collection one. Apparently I’m now collecting all the folding lash combs for scientific research. 😂
What beautiful makeup, @WinglessOne, especially the Isamaya Industrial Palette 2.0. The swatches look amazing. I'm sorry one of the shades broke, though.
Thanks @curlychiquita ! Luckily that shadow was easier to press back into usable form than I thought it’d be. 😅
@WinglessOne Wow! Awesome haul! Those swatches are amazing!
@WinglessOne this is such a GREAT haul!! Thank you for your detailed reviews and pics 😍
The Hourglass is gorgeous on you! @WinglessOne This year's palettes seem to be really nice.
Thanks @Ispend2much6 ! Agreed, this year’s palettes are quite nice. I really liked last year’s palettes as well: I swatched Elephant and Butterfly at an Ulta and was surprised their new (for 2022) shades played nice with my skin tone. And I liked 2021’s Universe Unlocked palette. Overall, I’m glad Hourglass has tried to be more skin tone inclusive with their annual Edit Unlocked palettes in recent years. (I do think they could still do better for skin tones deeper than mine; eh, I need to see how Snake behaves on other skin tones.) Also appreciate them adding more new shades to these palettes, so it doesn’t feel like the same ol’ Unlocked in a different case each year.
Thank you for your thoughts @WinglessOne. I did want to mention to you that when I used the bronzer in the jellyfish palette as an eyeshadow on one eye to test it, and the next morning I had scaly skin there.
I know you have sensitive skin also.
@Ispend2much6 Thanks for the heads up, and sorry the bronzer didn’t play nice with your eyelid. 😞 This is normally where my dermatologist would lecture me on the dangers of using makeup around my eyes that isn’t specifically noted (by the brand, on the packaging label) to be eye safe. (A blush by some brand did that to my lids once… wish I could remember which blush it was.) I’ve used Tiger on my eyes with no problems (don’t tell my derm 😂), but there might be ingredient/formulation differences between that palette’s shades and Jellyfish’s bronzer. Hope your skin recovers soon!
@WinglessOne Oh what a wonderful haul! That eye palette is amazing 🤩. And HG is going to look beautiful on you! Love the lippies 😍. Have fun
I'm thrilled that you love the Hourglass Unlocked Snake Palette! The swatches look so good on you!
Congratulations on all of your other awesome purchases, too!
@WinglessOne you definitely have an eye for gorgeous products!!
Thanks @lmaster ! I think my wallet wishes I’d stop looking at all the pretty shiny sparkly things for a while. 😂
Great selection of newness @WinglessOne ! The HG looks wonderful on you as do the lips of course. Nice to hear about the reformulated BT powder too, it’s good. I swear I have a million of those but I know they’re not the new ones! 😭 You’re so right about the berry blush. A little goes a very very long way!
Thank you @Sunnysmom ! I really hope the 8HA version of By Terry’s loose powder performs at least as well as the original, because I’d much rather use loose powder at home. The new pressed powder will be great for travel though. And yeah, She’s Wanted is definitely NARS Exhibit A level pigmented. 😄 It’ll take a loooong time to pan that blush, and that’s not a bad thing!
I love your hauls @WinglessOne 🤩🤩🤩
Have fun playing with Ground Work whenever you get the chance. I'm floored, I can't believe you got the HG Snake Palette for free, wowza, that's incredible! I ordered Jellyfish and I'm sooooo excited about it being a complete face palette this year.
Dragon Girl looks so good! I have seen it in a few hauls this month, it looks great on you 😉
Thanks @CynthieLu ! I also got Groundwork and She’s Wanted (Patrick Ta blush) for free, via Rouge Reward. 🙂 Hope you enjoy your Jellyfish palette when it arrives!
Dragon Girl’s an oldie but goodie NARS lip shade. I never liked the Velvet Matte Pencil formula so I’ve never owned this shade in that pencil/crayon. I’m very glad NARS carried Dragon Girl over to the new Powermatte pencils so I can finally wear it. (I do have this shade of Powermatte liquid matte but don’t wear it often, simply because I generally don’t wear liquid mattes often.)
