A tiny order from Butter London (via GMA Deals): 

I haven't broken my glass nail files yet, so hopefully this cuticle pusher will survive.

Glass cuticle pusher - I’ve wanted one for a while because I’m tired of buying orange sticks, and I want something that’ll remove the actual cuticle (in conjunction with a liquid remover) faster. I always use a glass nail file for efficiency without damage. So I expect a glass cuticle pusher to do a more efficient job than an orange stick—if the grit’s fine enough to not damage my nails in the process. Butter’s was 50% off so I jumped on it. 

Lippy Liquid Lipstick, shades Ultra Violet and Wild Orchid - Butter’s version of a fully pigmented lip gloss. They had 3 or 4 shades on sale for about 39% off. I’ve never tried a Lippy before, so of course I had to buy a dark and a light shade, for proper testing. For science! Butter used Pantone’s 2018 color of the year, 18-3838 ultra violet, as inspiration for both shades.

I tested Ultra Violet for 2 hours at home tonight. Then I wiped it off the center of my lips and applied Wild Orchid on my whole mouth. I’ve worn Wild Orchid for an hour so far. I’m wearing 2 coats in both photos below. 

Both shades perform like most lip glosses on me: shiny and moderately sticky, with a tendency to pool in my vertical lip lines. As with all somewhat sticky lipsticks, I used a wet cotton swab to degoop the inner edges of my lips so my teeth wouldn’t end up purple. 

These shades are quite pigmented. Ultra Violet was patchy, but rubbing my lips together evened out the color. I can also easily rub the vertical lines out of Wild Orchid. This shade ombrés itself (less color at outer edges) within an hour of wear, but a quick lip smushing redistributes color out to the edges. 

I got minimal feathering from Ultra Violet—noticeable only in a 10x mirror—and only along my bottom lip. Eh, nothing a lip liner or primer barrier can’t contain. Surprisingly, Wild Orchid hasn’t feathered at all yet.

@WinglessOne  I’ve never seen a glass cuticle pusher before. I don’t think I’ve seen the orange one either. I feel like I must be in the stone ages because I keep buying wooden ones. Do the glass ones stay the same forever or do you think it would dull down after awhile? Those purple lippies look gorgeous on you!!

Thanks @ather ! Oh, orange sticks—or "orangewood sticks"—are the wood cuticle pushers. 🙂 Those sticks used to always be made from orange tree wood. Nowadays they're probably made from other types of wood. I think a glass cuticle pusher should last a long time, especially if the grit's been etched into the glass (vs. sprayed on like an emory board's grit). 

My 3 glass nail files are at least 3 years old: one stays at home for weekly fingernail use (that's about how often I shorten or reshape some or all of my nails); one's dedicated to my toenails; and one stays in my purse/bag for on-the-go emergencies and travel, so that one doesn't get used often. None of them are dull yet. 2 of those files are the ones Sephora used to sell under their own brand name. Sephora claimed their glass file would last for years, so I assume the grit's etched instead of sprayed on. Otherwise my weekly-use file would've dulled long ago, considering how fast I used to go through emory boards. Anyway, if my glass files are any indication of glass cuticle pusher life expectancy, I assume I won't need a new one anytime soon unless I break it.

@WinglessOne  Oh I thought the orange sticks were actually plastic. I thought I seen a plastic one around once but I never saw it ever again. Maybe on Amazon tho. I usually pick mine up from Sally’s. I may need to look into the glass one. I know I had a glass file years ago. My dad used one and got me one and said they were the best. I need to search for it. I agree I go through files super fast.
