Wonderful pics and swatches @WinglessOne ! I love LE Pink Moon so much! Her glosses are the best. The KQ12 brush really looks like a winner, always searching for those. Always enjoy hearing your thoughts on Zoologist! Any new favorites among these?

Thanks @Sunnysmom ! I haven’t tried any of this batch of Zoologist samples yet. Lately I’ve been using my old Sloth sample again to decide if I wanna go full size bottle with that one. I’ll probably start testing these other samples on my skin later this month. 

I haven’t used my new KQ12 yet, but if it performs at least as well as my KQ12S does, then I can highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new kolinsky shader type brush. It’s about as thick as a Sonia G. Worker, but a bit larger overall. Fude Beauty’s Tanseido sale’s still going on, by the way. 😉

Thanks @Buootiful ! I was looking through the Ben Nye lipstick shades (because I’ve never tried one of their lipsticks), trying to find something I can’t easily dupe with something my hoard—and then this silver shade jumped up and sang “hello… is it me you’re looking for?” 😂 Instant attraction.

@WinglessOne  such fantastic hauls! You've reminded me that I need to try more of my Zoologist samples, since I've really enjoyed the few I've tried so far (the downside of hoarding so many fragrance samples is that I don't have near enough time to try them all in a timely manner 😅). I hope you enjoy your new samples! Those brushes are lovely. Beautiful swatches as well; I am particularly drawn to the bright pink Lisa Eldridge lip liner and the lovely blue eyeshadow. As always, I love reading your thoughts on everything. I hope you have fun with all your newness!

Thanks @caitbird ! I hear you on having too many fragrance samples. Someone once asked why I don’t just try ‘em all at once on paper strips. I’d do that if I knew they’d smell the same on my skin as they do on paper—but since they usually don’t, that’s not a good way for me to test fragrances. It does work for some folks though. Which Zoologists are you liking so far?

@WinglessOne  I haven't really tried the paper strip method of fragrance testing, but like you, I am not sure it would work for me. I like to do a full day wear test (or really at least two) to get a better sense of the fragrance and how it smells on me over time. So far of the Zoologist samples I've tried, my favorite is Hummingbird, which I loved immediately. I've just ordered the travel size of that one, and would like to get the full size as well when it's back in stock. I also liked Nightingale, which I've tried a couple of times and find really interesting. Most of them I haven't tried yet, though. More to look forward to! 😂

Thanks @CorgiMommy ! Zoologist is indeed fun! They focus on making fragrances that invoke the habitats of various animals, and they do that quite well. Sometimes a little too well. 😅

I was just reading your discription of the scent journey's you go on with Zoologist from the comments and the brand sounds really unique and pretty interesting. I hope the scent journeys your about to have with your new fragrances are good ones! I can't imagine a scent transforming over hours, that sounds like a cool experience.

Incredible haul! @WinglessOne  Those zooologists perfume samples are so unique and artsy I love the designs, what is the scent like for the brand? I would definatley hang those on my wall so neat! Those brushes are just stunning! I adore those lip shades. I love the swatches on you! Those are incredible shades! Enjoy 😊 ❤️

For scent notes of each fragrance, you can visit Zoologist’s website. 😉 In general though, I’ll say they’re a niche fragrance house that’s not afraid to create complex fragrances. Some are more accessible than others, and some are not for the faint of heart. Many of them will smell intensely one way when first applied (a couple are straight-up barnyard funky), but if you ride ‘em out, they’ll probably start to smell a different way, and their fragrance profile might shift 2 or 3 or 4 times before finally settling into a dry-down. 

Example: on me, T. Rex is BOLDLY smokey and flaming tar pits and burning orange orchards in a humid jungle during the mother of all lightning storms. It’s like that for the first 30-60 minutes of wear; if I leave home in that time I will absolutely knock people over with this fragrance. Then it slowly morphs into something beautifully warm and orangey, still smokey but subdued, with more florals and other fragrance notes popping up now and then. I always tell folks who wanna try this one to go very lighthanded with it—heck, I usually spray it only on one elbow pit, and I sometimes do that by spraying the air and then waving my arm through it—and apply it an hour before they plan to leave home. 😅

I’ve heard from several people that Tiger is one of the more accessible “safer” fragrances. Cow definitely is, at least to me. Hummingbird’s another safe one. Squid is definitely not safe unless you really enjoy smelling like brine, fish, ink, and ambergris. A dear friend of mine loves Squid and hates T. Rex; I’m the exact opposite. So we occasionally tease each other about it. But even though I hated Squid when I tried it on, I still appreciated the journey of shifting fragrance notes—even though I didn’t like where the journey ended.
