@CynthieLu   It was a blind buy, but I figured how bad could it have been?  And yes, very silky!  No scratching the skin at all.  And the handle is pink.

I love my Sephora job. My coworkers are amazing. I have a great team that I am with and am so lucky to be able to work with them.

The cosmetics portion of a Nordstrom order - I tried waiting to post this til I could retake lip swatch photos, but my patience has run out 😅: 

The only MAC LNY item that caught my eye.

MAC MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick shade Royal Emerald - c’mon now, of all MAC’s 2025 Lunar New Year offerings, did anyone really think I’d pass this one up? I think I’ve decided I like the Silky Matte formula. It’s slightly less drying than MAC’s old matte bullet formula (excluding the Retro Matte formula I cannot comfortably wear), and I do like the old formula. 

Here’s a lip swatch photo I took last week: 

See the bumpy/dry-patchy texture on my bottom lip? A Carolina Reaper (a small bit used in a big pot of chili) did that. 😭 I wanted to redo this lip swatch after my lips have fully healed, but that’ll take a while so… just pretend my lips aren’t flaky irritated beneath the pretty green lipstick. And yes, that chili pepper is stupid hot. My usual capsaicin limit is the ghost pepper, which is very tasty once you get past the heat. The reaper is much spicier than the ghost; moreso than I expected. That pepper learned me that day. 

Royal Emerald’s color is close to Bite Amuse Bouche shade Kale and similar to MUFE Artist Color Pencil shade Absolute Emerald (which I always use to keep Kale from bleeding). I prefer Kale in both color intensity and formula comfort, even though Kale’s a bleeder. But Royal Emerald’s a good alternative: 

I blotted/sheered out the left end of the Kale swatch to see how close the base color is to Royal Emerald.

Royal Emerald sold out FAST at MAC’s site. I hope that encourages them to release more unconventional shades in the future, like they used to. I’d planned to visit my local standalone MAC store to see if they had it, but then I found it at Nordy while clothes shopping. I happily used a Nordy Note to get this green beauty.

I really like the Royal Emerald on you, @WinglessOne! I wouldn’t have noticed your lip inflammation until you mentioned it, don’t worry! I hope it heals quickly.
