It’s a New Year and a new beginning. May the New Year bring positive vibes, happiness, good health, success, love, and blessings! New Year’s Resolutions 2024
Please post your amazing hauls for this month. I can’t wait to see what everyone gets especially since Beautylish’s Lucky Bags start shipping out 1/12/24.
Happy Birthday to all the January babies.
The January collective roundup:
@tsavorite I'm so happy that I got it!
Nicely done @CookieGirl1 !
@CookieGirl1 love the nail color
@CorgiMommy I don't own anything else like it! It's a prugly polish for sure--a delicously murky reddish brown that perfectly fits the Red Velvet nail trend, like a grungy chocolate cherry color.
@CookieGirl1 Great haul!
@CookieGirl1 Oh lots of new stuff to use!
Beautiful haul for this month @CookieGirl1 a few new items try I think? I hope you enjoy the new serum from PTR. It looks promising dosen't it? 🩵💚 My interest is peaked with that one. 😉
Nice @CookieGirl1 ! The Perricone mask is good I bet. Cool nail shade too.
Great hauls @CookieGirl1 ! Please let me know how you like the B&B texture spray.
@faeriegirl I like it BUT I don't honestly think that it's worth the price. It really just has the same texture and hold as a flexible hairspray which is totally fine--I'd rather have that than stiff, crunchy hair--but I think that there are plenty of comparable alternatives for a lesser price.
Great hauls!! Enjoy @CookieGirl1
@CookieGirl1 Your hauls are very restrained; I admire you for that!
@CookieGirl1 @Amazing haul.
Forgot to post this yesterday while it was still January.
Ulta and Beautylish:
Swatches & notes:
Sonia G. Traditions T5 and T1 brushes - since I passed up the original LE Traditions trio from a couple years ago, I’m happy to see Sonia add more Traditions brushes, this time to her permanent lineup. This handle shape in keyaki wood was was enough to pique my interest. Add kakishibu dyed goat bristles in new shapes and yeah, I couldn’t resist. Haven’t used either brush yet, and still need to wash the T5 so it’ll fluff up to its full potential. But I can already tell the T1 will be an excellent smudger for me: it’s dense and thicker than most other smudger brushes I’ve used.
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer Fuchsia Flex - this is BIC’s fault: too many of you had this in your hauls so I couldn’t ignore it. 😅 I expect it to behave like my other Gloss Bombs, and I’ll have fun pairing it with Colorfixes. At some point, I’ll swatch-compare Fuchsia Flex to a couple other glosses that may be similar… I’m thinking Pat McGrath’s Venomistress and Kevyn Aucoin’s Magenta Sapphire, though the latter has a strong blue flip. Oh, and I also have a sparkly Givenchy gloss that may be similar. I should swatch all of those tomorrow during daylight hours. (Note to self.)
DIOR Dior Addict Shine Lipstick Indigo Denim - purchased to reach the minimum spend for the GWP mini bullet. I’ve certainly got enough Addict lipsticks to put this extra case to good use. 🙂
DIOR Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick 824 Saint Germain - I didn’t like Dior’s old Velvet matte formula, so I wanted to try this reformulation. I’m wearing it right now and it’s very comfy! (I applied it over a thin base of Aquaphor Ointment, as I do with most other lipsticks.) Applied easily with no streaks or patches. Good opacity. The finish looks more like a cream satin when applied, but later settles down to a more velvet finish—though never what I’d call a true matte, maybe demi-matte at best. To me, that’s a good thing. These bullets have a slightly obnoxious floral fragrance, but it dissipates within 10 minutes. Saint Germain has held up well to coffee and water so far, but I don’t expect it to survive a meal since it’s a bullet instead of a liquid matte. I was hoping this shade would be a purple-leaning smoky mauve, but it’s actually very close to my bottom lip’s natural color. That makes it a great true nude for me.
DIOR Rouge Dior Refillable Lipstick 976 Daisy Plum - well I couldn’t not try a satin in addition to a matte, right? 🙃 I picked this shade for its sparkly bits. In person, it kinda reminds me of Pat McGrath BlitzTrance shade Love Train, though Pat’s is more shimmery than Dior’s. Daisy Plum felt creamy with no shimmer grit. It was a little streaky on my bottom lip, but a second coat evened things out nicely.
GWP: mini Rouge Dior Lipstick Velvet, 100 Nude Look - not a shade I’d pick for myself because of its light color. But since it doesn’t look 100% terrible on me, I can ombre it with another shade. This one was rather streaky during application and took some effort to even out.
Wow, @WinglessOne , these are all stunning!
@WinglessOne there is always next year to promise to but less
@CorgiMommy Haha, I told myself that last year. But here I am, still buying lipstick, needing to also buy yet another lipstick carousel to handle the sprawling spillover and re-reorganizing all my makeup around my lipstick hoard. At this point, I need a separate piece of furniture just for lipstick. 🤦♀️
Thank goodness brushes are easier to store in ways that work for me, though I do need to customize one of my beauty station drawers to hold some face brushes. I’m lining it with cedar planks and installing brush rests. 🙂
