February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

The lovely MYchoi was fabulous enough to offer to ship me some delicious treats from California to Pennsylvania. She knows I LOVE Asian food but have no Asian markets near my homestead. Here are some of the wonderful things she included:

^Large flat rate box JAM-PACKED with goodies!

^Seaweed.

^Melon flavored gummies (one of my favorites!) and melon flavored hard candies.

^Green tea, panda, and strawberry pocky. I busted into the green tea pocky IMMEDIATELY!

^Various crackers/biscuits/pies.

^Bae, various mochi, and green tea swiss rolls (another fave).

^Strawberry Calpico, aloe drink, and melon yogurt drink.

Do any of you have any favorite Asian foods, or foods from your culture or other cultures that you love?

Some kind of cracker with shrimp flavoring in them. Unfortunately, I did not like them because of the strong seafood odor left behind when eaten. I'll be giving those to a co-worker hehe

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

*drools* Ok, I can't stand this anymore! I'm going to HMart tomorrow or bust! Smiley Tongue

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

Alright, I caved and went out and bought myself 3 packages of red bean mochi and a bottle of kewpie mayo.  I will not be eating them together.

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I love Asian candy/snacks! It's complete nostalgia for me!

Yan yan is my absolute favorite. I used to be so stingy whenever I would dip the sticks in, so I wouldn't run out!

Few other favorites!

I think they changed the formula of White Rabbit, because it's no longer chewy Smiley Sad It has an edible wrapper! (made of rice paper I think)

Ice pops!

Love these! They have a shell encasing a peanut inside! There's garlic flavored ones... hot and spicy..barbecue. Garlic is my favorite though Smiley Happy

Potato chips shaped into hexagons! They're yummy too!

Filipino chocolate milk! Smiley Very Happy

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

Oh I wish I had those white rabbits around here, I love those creamy thangs!!!!

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I liked those white rabbit candies as a kid too, but all the ones I find here are super hard and brittle now. I always just thought it was because the stores here were keeping old stock and they dried up over time, but it would make sense if the formula had changed.

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

There were several controversies concerning White Rabbit, such as having ingredients like formaldehyde and melamine. Now, the milk in it is made from either Australia or New Zealand I think. Ever since I had several hard White Rabbits and learning of the controversies, I kinda haven't really tried them anymore...

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I haven't tried it since those controversies either... I got kind of paranoid.

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

Yikes! I used to love those as a kid and over indulged during cny!

I love the pork sung stuff and pineapple cakes from taiwan . Let's not forget them sun cakes now!!

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I have the silliest urge to try every limited edition Pocky that comes out.  Sometimes, they're just about as different as every "classic red" lipstick that Chanel has ever released, and yet they still find themselves in my grocery bag like this one.  But I've never come across the Panda Pocky before!  What does it taste like and do we have it in the east coast?!  Smiley Happy

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I'll let you know how it tastes after I try it! I've been attempting to eat the contents of this box S-L-O-W-L-Y. haha.

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I eat a lot of this stuff. I love the aloe drinks and pocky. I have a world food market that is fairly close that carries most of these things. Plus we have a heavy Asian population. I love the gummy candy but I usually buy the peach ones.

Ramunes are good too, have fun trying to get the marbles out.

If you ever feel industrious you should try making Onigiri

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

I just tried my aloe drink today! It tasted a lot better than I thought it would but I was surprised by the bits in it! haha.

Re: February Food Haul From MYchoi to Me! :)

They sell out bad around here. I think it's because there are so many college girls. I like the pomegranate ones and I actually like the weird little bits. The funny thing is I was buying them one day and my grandma was like "you like these things too". I don't know but it surprised me that my cute little mountain granny was drinking Asian drinks.
