I realize this thread’s 2 months old but: you don’t *have* to wash a silk pillowcase before first use, but washing it shouldn’t degrade it. If it’s not as good after you wash it, then either it wasn’t a good pillowcase to start with, or you used too harsh a detergent or wash cycle on it.  I have one Slip pillowcase and several other silk cases by a different brand. Their weight/thickness ranges from 19 to 25 momme. (I think all Slip cases are 22 momme.) I wash them all the same way: machine delicate cycle, cold water, Dreft laundry detergent; hang to air-dry. They’ve all washed up nicely and stayed completely intact that way. Some I washed before first use, others I didn’t, and they’re all still perfectly fine.

@goosey3 Have thick curls, so can only recommend a microfiber towel (cotton roughs up the hair cuticle) and possibly a silicone based product to act as a seal. Possibly something from Ouidad's climate control line would work as well.

@sunsetico Hello there!  For frizz-fighting, I find using a multi-tiered approach is best.  For shampoo, I rec a sulfate-free one.  My fave is Pureology Hydrate; I've also seen other BICers praise it, and it's an Allure aware winner. For conditioner, I love Biolage Hydrasource Conditioning Balm.  I've also been happy with DevaCurl One Condition, Phytojoba, and Neutrogena Triple Moisture Hair Mask (the one in the tub). For styling products, I highly rec a silicone serum.  I love Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.  I also need something with slip, so I use Phytodefrisant.  It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product is a real game-changer. When I flat iron my hair, I always use a heat protectant spray.  For me, I find those with alcohol hold my style and prevent frizz.  I like PM Hot off the Press; they recently changed the bottle, though, and I don't care for the new packaging. I also find that using a hair oil after I flat iron is really helpful for eliminating frizz.  My fave is Matrix Oil Wonders, but it's been discontinued.  I also like Alterna Kendi Oil (both versions), It's a 10 Miracle Oil with Keratin, and Josie Maran Argan Oil.  You can also use hair oil as a treatment, in with your conditioner, or as a styling product. Before I leave the house, I always use Living Proof No Frizz Humidity Shield.  It's not a miracle worker, but it helps more than you'd think. I also use dry shampoo.  I love Klorane (the non-aerosol version).  I think it's really important to decrease how much you wash/heat style your hair so that it stays healthy and is less prone to frizz. Good luck!

Hi @littlet1212 I'd recommend starting with OLAPLEX - Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 it will repair the broken disulfide bonds that were damaged during the lightening process. This is a pre-shampoo product, not a conditioner, so pay close attention to the directions. If you are combating frizz, this is likely due to lightening - the cuticle expands temporarily and also having naturally wavy/curly hair. I really like KéRASTASE - Discipline Blow-Dry Smoothing Primer it's a leave in treatment to combat frizz.

Try to avoid hairspray if you can and opt for a hair gel (for curly hair) instead! Squish the gel onto wet hair after you’ve applied other products and combed your hair, then let your hair dry with the gel mild. When you hair is dry squish you hair some more and the gel cast should come off. Hair spray can cause more frizz and damage but hair gel is a lot healthier for you hair and will make it look and feel more natural and soft

I have dark brown hair that was recently dyed blonde and I don’t have any hair damage yet but i’ve been leaving in the Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair mask overnight once a week and i’m in love with it. I get my hair wet in the shower then I apply a little bit of olaplex 3 in my hair to give it strength. After that, I saturate the rest of my hair with the briogeo mask to add moisture to my hair. It’s one of the best masks i’ve ever used.

@prettyface524 When I finish washing my hair I will put a leave in cream (Oribe Creme for Style) for the top of my hair and then for the middle to bottom part I put in a serum (Frizz Ease Extra Strength Serum and I will let it it sit on my head for 10-15 minutes).  After the time has passed, I will towel dry my hair off and then spray in leave in hair conditioner and add hair oil to my ends.  Also make sure you are using a shanpoo and conditioner that is targeted for frizzy hair.  I find this helps a lot. I have frizzy wavy hair too.

@MelissaColaLeon I know your pain!  The first thing I rec is wearing is hoodie with the hoodie up and pulled tight.  This actually works well for me - and I only have a short walk from my car to work. But, there are also products that can help.  I use LIVING PROOF - No Frizz Humidity Shield every day and while it isn't a miracle worker, it definitely helps and I wouldn't want to be without it. I've also found that styling products help a lot.  I rec a silicone serum; my fave is Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum.  I also rec It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product.  If you flat iron your hair, I can tell you that I've had tremendous success with heat protectants with alcohol in them b/c of the hold. Hair oils are also great.  I use Matrix Oil Wonder (I think it was recently discontinued) after I style my hair.  BUT, I use ALTERNA HAIRCARE - Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist when my hair is frizzy and it calms the frizz much more than any other oil (and I must own about 5 different ones).  I like to spray it onto my hands, and then distribute. I've also found that my frizz will ease if I give my hair a quick dry with the hair dryer.  I know this might sound quirky to do at work, but if I were in your place I know I'd definitely do that in the bathroom or in my office every day. Best of luck!
