I also have incredibly frizzy hair. I recently discover Color Wow Dreamcoat and Kevin Murphy Ever Smooth. Definitely has made a massive difference but unfortunately I don’t think anything will completely get rid of the frizz.

Okay, because of COVID, I am involuntarily growing out what WAS a very cool NYC spike-out haircut (shorter on sides, longer on top, spiked). I USED to use a huge array of waxes/etc to keep the spikes up. Now, it's growing out. I am trying to slick it down and back in order to keep my hair off of my face. So far, I've found that salt sprays and VERB Sea Texture Cream seem to work...sort of. I actually had to buy a hairbrush for the first time in 20 years also. Here's the issue: My hair is ULTRA fine and stick straight. No matter what product I apply, once it dries and I brush it back, there are always some hairs that are flying around in the breeze. I do have some cool cloth hairbands but they're kind of hot to wear in the summer. Also, I am considered an essential worker and have to go into my office a few days a week, and I am getting really self conscious about my hair and my growout. Yes, they just opened up Phase II in NYC but my hairdresser literally left the country for a few months...sigh. So...yeah. Best smoother to keep my hair where I put it without making a hair helmet out of spray, which won't last anyway? Again, hair is superfine, prone to oily, stick straight, and not colored. I wash it every day because otherwise it sticks up all over the place and gets greasy. No shampoo for me, I just use Doc Bronners. Thanks!

Your hair is probably frizzing because it is dry. This is what I have learned from books that I have read about curly hair. I recommend wrapping up your head in a cotton t-shirt after you're done in the shower. I think that wrapping it about when it's damp is a good time to wrap it up. I would leave your hair up while it dries the rest of the way and this might help improve the curl texture and reduce frizz. My curls are made in humidity but don't keep curling if I braid my hair or wrap it up in a twist. They keep the shape of their most recent style. I wash my hair weekly or it get's oily and my scalp gets dry. If I dry my hair in a dry environment, only the bottom layer curls and the top layers are more like beach waves.

@beeejelly I'm still trying to figure out their Verb Ghost Weightless Hair Oil. It's thicker than any other oil I own, so I've only used it sparingly - and on my ends. Curious to hear people's thoughts. I remember hearing more about it back when I believe a smaller size with a smaller price was sold.

Hi Bridget, I also have frizz prone wavy hair, although mine is quite fine and tends to break easily. I get great results when I only brush my hair when it's wet. Seriously. I use a Wet brush in the shower after applying my conditioner, I brush it through really well, and then I rinse it upsidedown while scrunching so there is still a little bit of conditioner left. Other than than I don't brush it, just apply a few drops of oil with my hands if needed. if I want to get second day hair, I spray with with a mister bottle before brushing. This usually gives me looser waves. Hope you find something that works and share! I love learning new tips.

Hi @Sherimartin the Drybar The Double Shot Blow-Dryer Brush is actually amazing! I also have very thick hair so I was very hesitant to try it out when it first came out but it really worked wonders and saves a lot of time. On top of having thick hair I have lots and lots f hair so blow drying would usually take me anywhere from 1 hour to 1 hour and a half and with double shot I could blow dry my entire head withing 30-45 minutes! 🙂

I don't know if this helps you but my hair was experiencing some of the same issues you are describing and what helped me was going off hormonal birth control. My hair is twice as thick now, almost a year after stopping Yaz. It is strange since it's not supposed to affect hair growth or anything but I felt like when I was taking it (for like 5+ years consistently) my hair was always really fine, limp and got frizzy and oily quite fast. I swear it was something to do with upsetting my hormones. I also cut down how often I would blow dry and straighten my hair as well, since that can damage it if you do it too much. As far as products go I really like Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil 3.4 oz/ 100 mL for getting rid of flyaways and frizz, or at least making it less noticeable. If you have to walk around outside and its really humid I think your hair may still be frizzy (if its anything like mine) but the oil should help a little. Just a couple of drops, rub between your palms and smooth through your hair especially the ends. Good luck!
