Do you have a box full of perfume vials and/or a vanity covered in perfume bottles? Are you the Goldilocks of perfume, just looking for the perfect signature scent? Do you want an opportunity to post daily about how your perfume of the day smells oaky and smoky with hints of blackberry and currant, like a cigar in a whisky barrel rolling through a Mediterranean orchard on a breezy summer morning?
If you answered yes to any of the above, or you just want to hop on board for the ride, join us for a 31 days of perfume challenge starting January 1st! Some of us from the 25 days of lipstick challenge wanted to continue the fun and exploration, and since many of us have so many perfume samples, we thought this challenge would be perfect. If you don't have 31 perfumes or hate everything that doesn't smell like Meyer lemons and fresh goat cream, that's fine--we're just aiming to use the neglected perfumes we have laying around and incorporate them into our perfume rotations.
And if you want more perfume vials, there's no better time than now to take a peek at Sephora's samples section.
Edit: Anyone can join in at anytime! We're here to support, live vicariously through, and encourage everyone in their olfactory adventures!
Tokyo Milk Dark's Pretty Rotten - Ambrosia Apple, Queen Amber Rose, Mandarin, Forest Green.
Sixteen92's Rook - Almond, vanilla, amber resin, clove, woodsmoke
The last couple of days I've been wearing Miu Miu L'eau Blue. I really enjoy this one, but it's not very strong and the staying power is not so great. I wish it longer last since it's a scent profile a bit different than what I typically go for. It's described as a "fresh floral" with lily of the valley with honeysuckle, and it dries down to a subtle pepper. I usually cannot stand peppery fragrances, I am very sensitive to them, but this is lovely. Again though, it's not very strong (maybe that's why I can handle it!). I haven't explored this house much, so I am not as familiar with their scents or how they wear on me. I am curious to try some of the others to compare staying powers.
Berdoules Somei Yoshino transports me to the Japan peeking at Cherry blossom lined streets. Air perfumed by the newness of baby spring. Geisha wearing Jasmine intermingle with the wild shiso. Sultry patchouli titillated my senses. Open on dreary winter day because it's spring in a bottle.
I've been curious about this house - I love the smell of shiso... ❤️
The line is quite unique for Sephora. The scents range, some are nice like this one, I also enjoy the Russian one, but many aren’t remarkable on my skin.
02/04/18: Today i wear Tom Ford Fleur de Portofino. I have this on my "to buy" list since the day it was launched. This is a lovely gardenia scent, very light not as strong as other Tom Ford. Unfortunately, i dont think it lasts as long as other scents either. Oh well, i will get it one day eventually. That's how much i love it 😉
Sorry everyone, i didnt have chance to post but here was my list for the last couple days.
02/02/18: Guerlain Terracotta perfume: i love it so much.
02/01/18: D&G 3 L'Imperatrice: another love
01/31/18: KVD Sinner: not a bad one but i think i like the saint one more
01/30/18: Nada -- sorry i forgot
01/29/18: KVD Saint
01/28/18: Jo Malone Wood Sage and Seasalt: hm.... this one grows on me so it will be on list "JM to collect" 😉
@6ixGirl, JM Basil & Neroli is a good scent. It reminds me of Tom Ford Portofino 😉
Today I'm wearing Juliette Has a Gun Another Oud. I wanted to wear something a little darker and heavier because it's cold out and it's supposed to snow tonight. This is the right perfume for that, but then I decided to make breakfast. Yes, I cook like my grandmother--the smoke detectors went off...all 5 of them! I now have a screaming headache, and Another Oud makes my head pound even more every time I get a whiff of it. Oh, well! 😄
@Titian06 Oh no! I can see why you wouldn’t enjoy the smell after all of that. That’s great that you have five smoke detectors, though! 🙂
My next sample I am working on is Juliette Has A Guns Lady Vengeance. This is a weird one for me, it has rose, lavender, and vanilla. I detest rose and lavender...yet I can't smell them in the perfume. Maybe they cancelled each other out? This is just ok to me. I don't like it but I don't hate it.
@Samtian - I have the Juliette Has a Gun sample set and found most of them to be "weird"! I like Always and Another Oud. There were a few where I couldn't detect any scent at all no matter how much I put on. One gave me a migraine and the rest just didn't appeal to me.
I purchased a Le Labo discovery set from the store a couple of months ago. I've been playing with Santal 33 since I kept hearing about it (put off since it is the Biebs' favorite). At first, I was meh. But, it has grown on me each time. I just need one spritz because my sister said she was dying when I sprayed three pulse points. It lasts a long time and I like that it is a sultry unisex scent. I lean towards fruity florals but, I am trying to expand. (Only recently, I admitted to myself that I am a fan of VS's Bombshell).
