Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I hear a lot of chatter in the community about various fragrance brands and formats. It seems that niche fragrances are becoming a hot topic and I'm loving all the brands I learn about from you all!

We want to celebrate these smaller brands that are truly unique and give you that artisanal, fancy feeling or that sassy, Friday night feeling 😉

What is your favorite "niche" fragrance brand at Sephora? What about your favorite scent? Don't forget to tell us why!

RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I was never a perfume person before I started experimenting with Atelier Cologne. So many perfumes gave me headaches even being near them. Now I am slowly building an army of perfume samples. From Atelier I love mandarin glaciale (sample and then travel spray that started all this), clementine California which I am gathering multiple samples of and want to get the 10ml soon, medium bottle when budget allows, rose anonyme (so glad I got a 7.5ml bottle when I did as it seems to be only full size or in sets right now), cedar atlas, cafe tuberosa, and I’m looking forward to sampling a couple more soon. Delving into other brands I’m about to start trying the Ellis Brooklyn Bibliotheca set. From other samples I’ve fallen for Tom Ford Black Orchid quite hard - I’m so glad it was a 100 point rewards option recently so I could afford to have some since the travel size is out of stock. I also like Prada Candy though maybe less niche? Tory Burch Bel Azur is nice but I haven’t decided if I like it better than my other options. I’m a sucker for earthy scents like sandalwood and patchouli (hello Tom Ford Black Orchid), and certain fresh scents. It’s rare for me to like a floral scent so I’m pleasantly surprised when that happens. I have not ventured into Commodity or Juliette has a gun yet but I have been eyeing them, along with Nest, Pinrose and I’m sure I’ve forgotten at least one. Oh I love MM Replica by the Fire Place but it is so strong it verges on headache territory for me. Sample definitely used sparingly rarely. I also just got a Lancôme La vie est belle sample I am loving too, feels lighter than the Tom Ford Black Orchid and earthier than the Prada Candy.

HI @jenny44indyWe look forward to hearing your thoughts on our fragrances 🙂  From what you’ve described, we would recommend Book from our Black Collection. It is a crisp, woody scent from a complex blend of bergamot, cypress and sandalwood. If you are looking for a fresh scent, make sure to check out our White Collection, especially our new Nectar. This luminous and vibrant scent is inspired by crisp sparkling citrus fruits and freshly-picked neroli blossoms. XOXO

I love the Joie fragrance!!!

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

My all-time favourite scent is Lilac Path by Aerin. I love all of their perfumes, but sadly I can't have them all since they tend to be expensive. If you like floral perfumes, I highly recommend checking out theirs. I also like Nest perfumes. My favourite has to be Black Tulip. I love that Nest makes great rollerball mini kits so it's more affordable to try out many scents.

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

You should try Aerin Hibiscus Palm! So good! it's like an expensive resort vacation in a bottle. Very Classy, not coconutty or sunscreeny at all!!

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

My favorites are Clean Reserve Skin (smells fresh and also sweet, perfect for any occasion).

I also love Jo Malone fragrances (Wood Sage & Sea Salt is perfect for the warm weather, I enjoy English Oak & Hazelnut and Wild Bluebell as well).

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I've been into finding close dupes for more expensive niche fragrances. I didn't even know I owned a couple until I started this little research project. Here are a few:

Commodity Book/Maison Louis Marie No.4  = Santal 33

Commodity Gold/Tocca Colette = Byredo Gypsy Water

Also, I received a sample of Atelier Cologne Oud Saphir and I am a fan! I have seen that this smells like Byredo Black Saffron, but I have not confirmed.

Ok, so those are the only two that I have found for now, anybody have others?

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I just recently discovered Atelier Cologne, and I am obsessed. My two go-tos are Clementine California and Vanille Insensee. Clementine is light and citrusy and just makes me feel so clean and fresh. The scent doesn't last that long on the skin, but I don't mind reapplying. Vanille initially was too strong for me, but it settled really nicely on the skin, and I'm still smelling it hours later. Totally in love!

I think @AtelierCologne Vanille Insensée is my *favorite*...

I think @Anonymous Vanille Insensée is my *favorite* vanilla fragrance. It has a luxurious warmth that feels just right.

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I love both MMM and Atelier Cologne!

MMM By The Fireplace was my most worn winter fragrance this year, and I also really love Beach Walk in the summer as it mixes with my body chemistry as it heats up. They both have great lasting power on my skin.

As for Atelier Cologne, I’m very into Clementine California and am always happy to stock up on it with my points or as samples. I carry a small Clementine California everywhere I go. It’s an uplifting citrus with a hint of green. Not the longest lasting, but citrus’s typically aren’t and I don’t mind continuously spraying this scent as the opening is just mouthwatering!

Would love to find a Jo Malone I adore because the bottle is beautiful but I haven’t had much luck with the house.

Byredo would be a perfect addition to the niche fragrances Sephora carries 😉😉

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I'm a huge fan of Breydo's Mojave Ghost and Gypsy Water. I've also started collecting more bottles of Jo Malone perfumes as well (I can't get enough of their Red Roses). I know it's not niche, but Chanel fragrances like Mme Coco Chanel, Chance line, and the new N°5 L'eau will always be my favorites.

RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

Commodity’s Bergamot is my new signature scent. I have a huge collection of perfume, but I always come back to that. Love it.

Re: RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

@MissKayRN, thank you for the Bergamot love  💕!

Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

My recent fav is Tocca's Cleopatra. I think it's perfect for spring. Slightly citrus/fruity with a hint of musk. I'm also loving Philosophy's Nude Rose, another great scent for spring, clean smelling + 1,000 roses ❤ My all time favorite is Versace Bright Crystal Absolu, but I always feel that is such a summer scent.

RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I like the CLEAN Reserve scents. I have the Amber Saffron and the Sueded Oud. The Amber Saffron is tasty and vaguely citrusy on me. The Sueded Oud is sensual and woodsy. They don’t smell similar but they’re both complex orientals. I used to be a fan of the Pinrose Treehouse Royal (also woodsy) but they don’t carry it in my Sephora or on the website anymore. I also like the Tocca Colette, it’s unique, but it doesn’t have much staying power. I could go on about REPLICA Funfair and Jazz Club, too, which are both great. This is such a fun topic!

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

Atelier Cologne - I like most of the scents I've tried, especially Pomelo Paradis & Cedrat Enivrat

Pinrose - I like most of the scents I've tried from this line; Garden Gangster is my favorite

Elizabeth & James - Nirvana French Grey

Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue (I used to wear this every day)

Commodity - I like many of these, particularly Orris, Tea, & Book

Maison Margiela - Replica By the Fireplace

Nest - I like most of the scents I've tried; Citrine is definitely my favorite

Probably not niche:  Cartier - Vetiver Bleu (my go-to scent)

Not sold by Sephora:  Tarte - Sweet Tarte (I still can't believe this scent smells so good!)

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

Hi @Titian06So glad to hear that you’re enjoying fragrances from our Platinum, Black and White collections!

RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

MMMM... by Juliette has a gun! Soft and sweet and not too overpowering but definitely distinct! 🙂

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I recently purchased 2 niche fragrances that I wanted for a looong time:

juliette has a gun “Not A Perfume”

byredo “Gypsy Water”

I love them both. I think it would be amazing if sephora carried Byredo and Le Labo brands.

slso I love Jo Malone andd I have several of their products. My absolute favorite is Earl Grey & Cucumber. It’s so unique and fresh smelling❤️❤️

Re: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

I really enjoy all the Maison Margiela REPLICA scents. I wore By The Fireplace almost everyday during the winter and I’ve been loving Lazy Sunday Morning for the spring. Jazz Club is on my loves list and I’ll probably buy it for my birthday in August so it can be my Fall scent (I’ve gone through maybe 10 samples? Hah)

For me, I can’t wear a fragrance that is too cloying or flower-y. I love how the Maison Margiela REPLICA are basically unisex and complex smells.

RE: Opinions Wanted: Your Go-To Niche Fragrances

My favorite scent for spring has been Mon Guerlain. To me, it smells like lavender and cotton candy and it’s just so lovely and delicate. I also have been loving Maison Margiela REPLICA Beach Walk and Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon!
