I know there are a few of us on BT that are fragrance addicts, so I thought it would be nice to have a dedicated place where we can share our thoughts.
This is not to take away from the lovely What Are You Wearing Today, Fragrance Edition thread, but more a place to post longer reviews, chat about new brands or releases, and just shoot the breeze on anything good and smelly 🙂
For me, I recently acquired 2 new decants that I've been anxiously awaiting. Ever since Lachaton mentioned that MMM was releasing a new scent called By The Fireplace I've been itching to get my hands on it. My decant arrived yesterday, so I'm looking forward to marinating in it this weekend. Secondly, I recently picked up a tiny sample of Shiseido Nombre Noir. Supposedly it is one of the most expensive failures in perfume history - made by Serge Lutens for Shiseido back in the 80s. Of course, with a backstory like that, I was dying to get a sniff 😄
What's new on your scent radar? Do tell!
Thanks for providing such detailed reviews, @itsfi! They sound very nice. I'm glad you like them.
Thanks, I was curious about this. Seems like it's not for me.
This is great, @itsfi ! I also bought the sample set as soon as it was available. I haven't started trying them yet as I'm going through some other samples first. 💖💖💖
Hermes is following Frederic Malle, Bvlgari and others in releasing a perfume for children
Cabriole features orange blossom, osmanthus, honeysuckle and sandalwood.
Aesop is coming out with another scent for its Othertopias line and shockingly, this one also has aquatic properties. I guess the nose, Barnabe Fillion, has a thing for wet fragrances! The notes for Eidesis include petitgrain, black pepper, aquatic and floral notes, frankincense, cumin, cedar, sandalwood and vetiver. I didn't quite like this line for myself and was skeptical but I found them all interesting and boundary pushing. I am definitely going to try this one when I can.
Obsessed with Aesop scents! Can't wait to pick this one up!
@pocketvenus I realize they're marketing it to children, but the Hermes notes sound like something I'd really like. I'm not against getting it for myself 😉
@curlychiquita It's mainly marketing at the end of the day 🙂
Couple new releases
New from Serge Lutens, Poivre Noire with pepper, nutmeg and cedar. The copy is typically pretty weird, like they just threw it in Google Translate ha ha. A sobriety all in black & white in the form of a manifesto. Bias, radicality, the perfume is not lukewarm. It is a Lutens!
The Violette Volynka Eau de Toilette from the Hermessence collection is an elegant, unexpected encounter: between masculine and feminine, between two unique materials which mirror each other like two alter egos. "I opted for Volynka leather top notes. Its scent is so strong that I wanted to pull it in the opposite direction by pairing it with a delicate flower: violets." - Christine Nagel, Hermès perfumer.
Violets and leather are a pretty classic pairing. I'm interested in smelling how this delicate versus strong tension plays out and what Nagel does differently here.
@pocketvenus - The second one sounds interesting. I'm not even sure what to make of the first one! 🤣
Boy Smells | Sephora coming soon to Sephora. Cross post from 2022 Product Release Thread.

@itsfi So happy to see Sephora pick up this brand 🙂
Me too @pocketvenus! 😃 I wonder if it’ll be available in store or online only. 🤔 Guess we’ll find out at the end of the month.
Pineward Perfumes has bought the rights and formulas for the cult house Apoteker Tepe which are available for sale now. I just bought a sample set and am really looking forward to testing them all. I managed to get a sample of Holy Mountain after the house folded, which was a lovely spicy smoky affair, but not as unique as some of the others. Have heard really good things about After the Flood in particular.
@QueenMarceline This is the best sampler set I've tried in awhile. No duds!!
@pocketvenus Such a rare but amazing feeling when that happens ❤️
New Serge Lutens, Poivre Noir
Upcoming fragrance from Arquiste, Indigo Smoke
@Mochapj Oh Calice Becker! I will check this out for sure.
Today was Byrdeo Mojave Ghost. I used to like this one, but now it smells off on me. Lasted over 6 hours and still going strong.
Ambrette, sapodilla, violet, sandalwood, magnolia, ambergris, and cedar.
