Dior L’Or perfume- legit ?

I purchased the Dior J’adore L’Or  perfume, and it smells completely different than the ones available  at shoppers and holts. I’m wondering if anyone had similar experiences with Sephora perfume smelling different?
Could it be a bad batch, or a fake perfume?

Re: Dior L’Or perfume- legit ?

So I would agree with you that testers could  smell different however I always buy perfume after smelling the tester and so far (until this purchase) the tester and perfume smelled exactly the same.

I’ve bought lots of perfume from Sephora and never  had a problem until this one.

that’s why I’m wondering if anyone else noticed a difference in the scent.

Hi @Russki - I'm highly doubtful that it's a fake. Sephora has a reputation to uphold, and no need to sell fakes.

I can think of a few reasons why it might smell different. Most likely, if you were smelling the sample bottles at Shoppers or Holts, they may have been open for quite awhile and begun to degrade. It could also be something like other fragrances you smelled first, so your sense of smell needed "refreshing", or you might be/have been congested. It might even be the difference in, say, smelling an eau de toilette, and then buying a stronger version, where other fragrance notes pop out more strongly to you.

On the whole, I'd be inclined to think that the sealed bottle you bought is the "true" fragrance. Open bottles of fragrance in department stores stay in use for a long time, under bright lighting - not optimal storage conditions.

Hope this helps!
