Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Sephoria 2024…..will be in Atlanta, Georgia. Who will be attending this year?  I won’t be able to make it again this year 😔

Rouge presale as announced on IG will be 7/16/2024.

SEPHORiA is a global annual rendezvous specially created to celebrate the world of beauty. Starting in Atlanta (Sept 27-28th), in person events will also take place in Paris (Oct 4-5th), Shanghai (Oct 24-27th), and new locations Rio de Janeiro (Nov 1-3rd) and Dubai (Nov 6-8th).

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

They’re going to have to cancel it, Georgia declared a state of emergency. I hope they will be willing to ship us our bags at least. I’m so disappointed. This was my first time being able to go.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Dude they haven’t even canceled it yet and Friday is the last day of the storm, Saturday is fine so it’s not even the peak of the storm, we will live in the rain while we wait in line for a few minutes. Not a big deal.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

The state of emergency allows the government greater flexibility to respond in the case of disaster, in this case it’s being done preemptively so they aren’t scrambling in the middle of a disaster. If the conditions end up being  so bad that the talent and staff working the event can’t travel to the venue or the venue itself is impacted (flooding or severe damage), then they may indeed cancel, as they did in NYC last year.

IF they cancel, then they *may* ship the bags but I wouldn’t bank on it since they got so much flak last year about delays in shipping .

If the conditions aren’t so bad enough to cancel sessions, but flights are impacted, I don’t know if they will provide any refunds to individuals but I would hope so, though I don’t expect they’ll ship bags if only some individuals are affected.

Sure hoping for the best for the event and anyone else who may be impacted by the storm! And then hope they move SEPHORiA off the East Coast or change the time of year because of the severe weather events that are only getting worse. @makeupjukie95

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

@sister13  I’m hoping they don’t move it (not permanently, anyway) off the east coast because that coast’s closer to us midwesterners than the west coast. 😅 Not that I’ve never traveled to California for an event and wouldn’t consider doing it again. It’s just logistically easier for me to plan east coast trips. Plus, it’s good to see Sephora do things outside of Los Angeles for a change. I say all of that even though I can’t attend Sephoria this year. (D’oh, I was supposed to let @RGbrown know that a couple weeks ago… yeah, I won’t be there. Couldn’t rearrange my conflicting commitments.)

But they should definitely take hurricane season into consideration (June - November)—most especially the August - October peak. Doesn’t mean weather will be terrible during those months though. Heck, I’ve gone to Florida many times during September and October with no weather trouble except maybe one frequently rainstormy day. Eh, you roll the dice by planning events in the southeast during hurricane season.

Good luck to everyone attending Sephoria (and anyone who lives in Florida and Georgia), especially y’all traveling from out of state! Remember to pack an umbrella and/or raincoat. And bring an external battery so you can charge your phone if the power goes out (and your hotel doesn’t run on backup generator)—though I hope Atlanta won’t have a power outage. Ideally, the coming storm will make landfall as a tropical storm instead of a hurricane. I mean, ideally it won’t touch Florida at all, but I think we’re past that point now.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

No, I totally understand that it's good they are moving it around, it's just as a meeting planner, there is just so much risk for this time of year in the region. It's one thing for individual travel but another for a big event. I would have LOVED to place our meeting on the East Coast/SE, but since it was our biggest revenue source with almost 8k attendees, it was too risky at that time of year if a weather event prevented presenters, sponsors and attendees from travel during our meeting, so we tried to get there with other events we held at other times of the year.

I was getting excited thinking you WERE going, but sorry you can't make it again this year - hopefully another time!  @WinglessOne

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

@sister13  Yeah, hurricane season’s always a risk for events and travel in the southeast. Though the main risk is flight-related, as you mentioned: indoor events could still happen as planned, but airlines may (understandably) cancel flights due to weather.

Many Floridians say any hurricane below category 4 isn’t worth panicking over. 😂 Some of my friends and family live in FL, and it took me about 2 years to stop daily panic-checking on them whenever a hurricane took aim at the state. Kinda like how I keep telling certain relatives they can stop worrying about me whenever a serious winter storm rolls through Illinois. Dude, we’re used to it, really not that big a deal if you stay indoors, secure any loose outdoor furniture/other items (big storms in Chicago usually come with stronger-than-usual winds; we’ve lost big trees to some storms), and keep backup batteries ready for power outages. Same goes for Floridians who’ve lived through several hurricanes.

Last I heard, Helene’s now expected to be cat 4 at landfall. But even then, Atlanta’s not getting directly hit. Florida’s panhandle is. Atlanta’s in tropical storm warning mode, not hurricane warning mode. I’ve been through a couple tropical storms and they remind me of some Chicago winter storms, with rain instead of snow. I expect Atlanta will be much windier and rainier than usual, but it looks like they won’t get the “perpendicular palm trees” type of weather Florida’s in for. As long as Atlanta doesn’t flood or have a power outage, they should be fine. Flights into Atlanta are of course a different story, narrated by each airline and how they wanna handle this storm.

EDIT because I forgot to add: aw, I was hoping to attend this year so I could finally meet some of you in person—but maybe I can next year! To my knowledge, I’ve only met one BICer in person, plus two BIC admins. I gotta increase those numbers! Had I gone this year, I’d have also planned an excursion to Fun Spot America to ride their roller coaster, because it’d be a crime (for me) to physically be so close to an RMC without riding it. 😅

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Aww, Hopefully next year, it would be amazing to meet you in person!!

I have met quite a few of us irl over the years, starting with the BIC launch party, then following with SEPHORiA!

I don’t have any extra time for activities tho I do love roller coasters. Not even sure I have time for a pedicure (though I’m in desperate need) and I’m sad about that because I had the best pedicure ever last time I was in Atlanta! @WinglessOne

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I just don’t want to risk it and get stuck or worse. And it scares me for everyone else who’s having to come from out of state as well. Driving or flying it’s just so dangerous. It just disappointing I really was looking forward to it. I wish you all safe travels. ❤️

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Sorry you won't make it, it is a stressful situation to navigate for sure! @makeupjukie95

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

@makeupjukie95 Last year NY declared a state of emergency but part of it still went on.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

You think so? I was hoping it'd be up to each county to issue restrictions.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Georgia declared state of emergency ahead of the storm.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I just don’t think it would be safe for them to have us all there, especially with flying or driving in the middle of a hurricane. Like they need to think safety risks for all of us. #sephoria

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I live in Georgia and it’s rain and wind as normal, I’m still going to work and doing everything as normal. Everything should go on as normal with sephoria as well.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Is anyone else worried about the weather forecast this weekend? Looks like a hurricane will make landfall in Florida on Thursday into Friday.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I'm worried about it, I'm driving in from another state and I've expressed my concerns via email to them and they seem unfazed.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I can't believe we're facing more inclement weather for sephoria. I'm flying in and am worried about my travel plans. I was planning to fly in Friday morning for the second session but might switch to Thursday instead.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Yes, and I hope Sephora addresses it in the email this week especially with its current path hitting Atlanta Friday. This is going to affect travel plans for many and can put those driving to the venue in the cone in danger depending on the severity.

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

if anyone wants to sell a ticket please lmk!

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

I have ticket but not going, are u able to sell it?

Re: Sephoria 2024 Atlanta, Georgia

Many people did last year, not sure how but since the first day was canceled last year, some day 1 people purchased from other people for day 2 who couldn’t attend.
