Winged liner and hooded eyes

Still trying to perfect the wing with hooded eyes. Any tips/tricks? 👁

Re: Winged liner and hooded eyes

My eyes are very hooded and a little droopy...nearly impossible to do a descent wing. The answer for me has been the ultrafine eyeliner pen from blinc cosmetics. It produces the finest line you can find leaving maximum hood space plus it stays put until you’re ready to remove it. I use blinc’s mascaras, brow products, and liners because they don’t budge...no smears or raccoon eyes ever!

Hi @Anonymous,

David recently posted a really informative tutorial on eyeliner for hooded eyes on the Sephora Youtube channel. I recommend checking it out!

RE: Winged liner and hooded eyes

Use Rihanna’s Fenty’s flyliner “Cuz I’m black”. The pen tip is very fine and will make it very easy for you to line your eye lid and you will be able to see it under your hooded eyelid. it will also be able to help you control making a wing at the end of your eye.

Re: Winged liner and hooded eyes

Try drawing them when your eye is open. Do not draw when eye is closed because when you open your eye back up your heart will shatter at how horrendous it ends up looking. When I was in makeup school they taught us to apply the liner with our eye half open and draw a guide that way when you close your eye you know it will be placed in the proper spot when you open your eye back up. Also try not to over draw the line too thick or your whole eye lid will end up the colour of your liner and cover up and shadow work that you've accomplished prior also making it super dramatic. Sometimes working with shadow can be easier to warm up to that way you can stamp it on rather than going right in with liquid which is alot less forgiving. You could also try to do your eye's first this way you can wipe off the bottom of the tail if you do draw it too low and can then apply your complexion products following. I have been struggling with my hooded eyes for years and with practice, patience and some new techniques you can accomplish the perfect winged liner no matter how hooded your eyes are! Best of luck, you've got this!

Look up Katie Jane Hughes on instagram!!! She's an amazing makeup artist who works with glossier and a bunch of other brands who has hooded eyes and has a great trick for winged liner on hooded eyes! She has stories highlighted all about doing the wing 🙂

RE: Winged liner and hooded eyes

i have terribly hooded eyes, what i like to do is try to get the best wing shape you can and clean it up with concealer! having a thin line above your lashes will help as well💕

Re: Winged liner and hooded eyes

@Anonymous My eyes are like... half hooded... but I treat them like they are. I enjoy a winged liner look a lot, but with hooded eyes most of the liner is hidden when your eyes are open. So, you have to be really careful about where you start/place the wing. What I do first is I line my top lid right along the lash line, then I use the natural flow of my lower lash line to start the wing, using eyeliner to extend my lower lash line up, if that makes sense. I personally don’t use liner in my lower lashes, but if I did I would basically just finish lining to my outer corner and keep going. I usually end the tip of wing at the brow bone, then slowly build the thickness of the wing to connect to my upper lash line. With hooded eyes, you can’t make the liner too thick, and you can’t make the wing too pronounced or when your eyes are open you won’t get the shape/look you’re going for. Here are some examples of winged looks I’ve done...4EF80DE5-2CD3-4B91-AE59-3497125B2E90.jpeg
