Tubing Mascara

Has anyone ever tried any tubing mascara such as the KEVYN AUCOIN The Volume Mascara Rich black or similar?  What brand is best or have you used?  How would you compare them to traditional mascaras?

I've always hated how clumpy mascara looks on my lashes so I use falsies instead with a light coat of mascara to blend lashes together.  They're not the cheapest alternative, especially when used often...

Re: Tubing Mascara

@RAWRitsRED I used to use NYX Doll Eye: Volume which I only recently learned was a tubing mascara.  I found the tube to last about as long as non-tubing mascaras.  I liked the volume I got, but I wouldn't say it was extraordinary.  It was easier to remove, but not like night and day.  I stopped using it after discovering Essence Lash Princess: False Lash Effect.  I was thinking about trying it again just to do a comparison, but the NYX has since been discontinued.  IDK of any other drugstore tubing mascaras that do as well of a job.

@greeneyedgirl107

Thanks, that's good to know!

@CheerMomma

Have you ever tried the Hourglass tubing mascaras?  If so, did you like them?

I just took a free Hourglass Masterclass and they were talking about their Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Lengthening Mascara  and Hourglass Cautionโ„ข Extreme Lash Mascara Standard Size Black - 0.33 oz/ 9.4 g

They said it works well to use both together.  The MUA demonstrated with just the Unlocked Mascara and it really gave her lashes length even after 1 coat.

Re: Tubing Mascara

Hi @RAWRitsRED

I have tried the Hourglass Cautionโ„ข Extreme Lash Mascara Mini Size Black - 0.19 oz i got a deluxe sample when it first came out. It added nice length but not quite enough volume for me. I havenโ€™t tried the new Unlocked one, itโ€™s likely if thereโ€™s a mini, reward or promo code I will try it out to compare but given the price Iโ€™d stick to my Thrive mascara as I know I like they one.

Re: Tubing Mascara

I am a Tubing  mascara addict and think I might have tried just about every one out there over the years, drugstore, high end, luxury and boutique. Typically they donโ€™t offer a lot of volume. Essentially the formula wraps your lashes in polymers which dry on as tubes, darkening and extending the length. They donโ€™t build well due to this which is why you need a fairly thick wet formula one if you are after volume. They are budge proof, donโ€™t smudge or flake and are easily removed by pressing warm water over them and sliding the tubes off (no those arenโ€™t your lashes being lost) I remove mine in the shower with a Muslin cloth.

When buying a tubing mascara check the formula, if they have any form of wax in they may smudge as the wax melts. I always like to see the polymers higher up on the ingredients list and low or no waxes ideally. Those are the formulas I find to be best for no panda eyes.  If a mascara doesnโ€™t claim to be tubing but has some kind of polymer and claims to remove with warm water that is a good indication itโ€™s a tubing formula.

The Kevin Aucoin Volume is decent, I liked it, and it was a rare tubing formula that was thicker and added a modicum of volume. Absolutely the best for volume, length, deep black and budge proof with easy removal is Thrive Causemetics from a Ulta. Thatโ€™s my new holy grail, I have even slept in it and it look perfect the next morning (naughty me!)  A close second for drugstore (also at Ulta) is LA Girl Volumatic which is a great value.

If you are new to tubing mascaras maybe try that one first to see how you like it. and if you find one that delivers volume as well as length please let me know!

TC.

Re: Tubing Mascara

@CheerMomma Great information on different mascara brands.  I learn so much from BIC.

@CheerMomma

Thank you!  I'll do some research on the products you mentioned and see which one I'd like to try!
