Prevention of the mascara smear

Hello! I am hoping someone can share some tips on how to prevent my mascara from smearing under my eyes. Every time I wear mascara, it smears all over my under-eye area. I have olive skin, very oily. I tried powder but it makes my fine lines more visible. Any advice would help. Thanks, Annie

 Have you tried using an eye primer on your undereye area? That might help. You might also tilt your head back and fan your lashes dry before proceeding on to your other makeup. 

Also, having plenty of lines myself, I can say that using a very fine powder very lightly can actually help hide lines-- Elf's HD undereye powder is an affordable one, Tarte's Smooth Operator is another choice. I use a very small brush, and tap it off first, barely using any pressure.
