Hooded Eyes

So I’m a beginner at makeup and I’m having trouble creating eyeshadow looks due to my hooded eyes. Do you guys have any tips on achieving a bomb eyeshadow look with hooded eyes?

Re: Hooded Eyes

Hello! I have hooded eyes too and it can be frustrating but just takes some practice and getting used to. I agree with other tips and definitely tight line as suggested. I also usually only place eyeliner above the lash from about the middle of each pupil out.

Another good tip is to apply  your eye makeup with eyes open and place a deeper shadow in a sideways V shape right above your natural crease.

You can look up Katie Jane Hughes, she is a makeup artist who has hooded eyes and does great tutorials. Natasha Denona, too and Wayne Goss are all helpful. Just Google their names and ā€œhooded eyesā€ to see some results, or follow #hoodedeyes on Instagram if you’re on there! Good luck and Hope this helps! @HoodedEyes

@HoodedEyes   SportyGirly125 is right; there are a lot of great instructional videos for makeup application for hooded eyes on YouTube.

I'm starting to have this issue do to time marching on, and some techniques to combat hooded eyelids that  I picked up are these:

1. Use the method of tightlining for lining your eyes; this leaves more of your lid available for applying eye shadow and will make the lids look larger.

2. Extend your crease by applying eye shadow above your natural crease.  This is the best tip- it really makes your eyes look larger (if you want that type of look.)

For me personally, I am appreciating liquid eyeliner more than liner pencils as I can gt a much thinner line with them, and once it dries it doesn't seem to smudge like pencils can.

This liner has a very thin tip to help with both tightlining and regular lining: https://www.sephora.com/product/sex-kitten-liquid-liner-P420231?icid2=products%20grid:p420231:produc...

@HoodedEyes @You can watch YouTube videos with your eye shape or take a class at  Sephora or a beauty counter so they can help teach you.

thank youu. i’ll look into them

Re: RE: Re: Hooded Eyes

Definitely check out Wayne Goss's videos @HoodedEyes. He has some great tutorials. I agree with @Ispend2much6's advice above too- I always extend my crease color up otherwise it would never be seen LOL!

Thank you so much for listing this particular person for a video on this!

@quspork   I love Wayne! I'm going to check that video out; thanks!
