Eyeliner/mascara tips for blonde-ish lashes (eyeliner gap)

Hi! I've just recently started getting into makeup. Having trouble with a "gap" between my liner and lashes /: what are some tips to fill this gap? Any advice is appreciated 🙂

Hi @new2makeup12!

I've been doing the winged eyeliner look for 12 years.  It took a lot of practice to get it right.  Like others have said, tight lining will help get rid of the space between your liner and lashes.  Lift your lid up a bit so you're able to fill the space in.  I recommend a pencil liner instead of liquid when first starting out to prevent smudging or getting it in your eye.

I think you did a great job with your liner!  I like to extend my liner a bit longer and make it really sharp.  If you mess up, you can clean it up with concealer and a flat concealer brush!

Just like they said, blend some shadow (or pencil liner) right at your lashline with a brush FIRST. Then go over it like you normally would with your regular liquid/gel liner. Works great! Been doing it for years. My lashes are light like yours. Tightlining takes it a step further, but it can be irritating to your eye and/or transfer to your lower lid

Typically I first do my eyeliner, then I will "stamp" over it with a matte black eyeshadow using a small angled brush (Tati has a video somewhere on youtube with this technique). Then I apply mascara, making sure to really wiggle and roll the wand at the base. Usually that deals with any gaps, but if I really want it black at the end I will use a black pencil liner on the upper waterline.

You may want to check out videos about tightlining, which includes lining your upper water line. If that doesn't work, or you don't feel comfortable doing it, I would try using a powder eyeshadow along your lashline.

You did really good! I never could line without yanking my eyelid around so usually either go for powder liner on a damp liner brush or brush darker eyeshadow along the line to fill in a bit. After watching all the YouTubes some things you just have to play around and find a way that works best for you.

Thank you! I freehanded this. 🙂 I will definitely try the shadow with a damp brush. Do you think the black is suited for someone with lighter color lashes or is it too dark/harsh? this was a sample eyeliner pen in black, but I also have a gel liner in charcoal. 🙂

If you like black and it makes you feel bold & confident that’s all that matters. You’ve got the dark mascara to match so it looks good. One thing I find helps a lot with using shadow or powder liner is to use eye primer. The Tarte in bloom palette is one of my favorites for lining because it has a super dark blackish brown and the formula is highly pigmented without being too soft and powdery. I have a small round dense eye brush that can go in dry and still give a pretty defined line with that palette.

It’s really a matter of personal preference @new2makeup12  I have similar coloring and used to like a very dark brown liner and mascara but I’d wear black now.

You did a great job! It might just take getting used to seeing this look on yourself but do whatever you like!
