Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

Any suggestions??

Re: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

In addition to all the great suggestions made by other posters, check all your cleansers for potentially irritating ingredients that could cause/exacerbate the eczema.  Sodium lauryl sulfate, often found in foaming face wash, is a common culprit.  For me, (denatured) alcohol causes instant inflammation but seems fine for other people.  Sometimes fragrance can trigger a flare-up.  Try something gentle and fragrance-free for a couple of weeks (like cerave or cetaphil cleansers) to see if it helps.

@drrragon I know... it’s hard cause I also have acne prone skin.. so I have to use Murad as my face wash.

Re: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

@anneminette I've recently struggled with this - extreme skin flakiness, irritation, and burning from eczema around my eyes. I was prescribed both a steroid cream and then a brand name drug to help by the dermatologist. Before that I tried everything to fix my eyes - the Kiehl's avocado cream, Peter Thomas Roth cucumber and aloe gel, Belif aqua bomb - nothing helped and it all burned when I put it on my skin. I found that Skinfix (which came highly recommended) has some very lovely products that have helped me out greatly after the steroid cream started to stop working. The skin around my eyes had gotten to the point to where the skin was starting to even look hard (for lack of a better term) it was so stressed from my eczema. I'm so very glad I picked up these products - they are life savers! My flakiness has gone away, there is no redness, and goodbye terrible looking skin! These are only online at the moment thru Sephora though. The First Aid Beauty eye duty triple remedy a.m. gel eye cream you could pick up a sample of as it's in store - this has been a nice salve as well. I just really like the Skinfix as it helps clear up my eczema (note Skinfix makes one for the eyes in the redness recovery line, but I can't find it to tag so I tagged the face mask)  Skinfix barrier+ Triple Lipid-Boost 360° Hydrating Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Skinfix Eczema+ Dermatitis Face Balm 0.48 oz/ 13.5 mL Skinfix Redness Recovery + Antioxidant Peptide Treatment Mask 1.7 oz/ 50 mL

Wow!! Thank you @niki172!! I’m gonna give them a try one by one and see which one will work! I kind of gave up on my eyelids but you guys give me hope

Re: RE: Re: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

@anneminette good luck and you're smart by trying things one by one and giving your skin a chance to heal. I know some of the Skinfix items are a bit pricey, but that redness recovery for the eye is worth it's weight in gold and a little goes a very long way (the tub will probably last me a good 6-8+ months). I wish you the best :).

I have the exact same thing and what really helps me is some of the drunk elephant

Lala retro whipped cream on my eyes for a little bit of Vaseline but the drunk elephant works better

I’m gonna ask for a sample of that and see how it goes!! Fingers crossed! 🤞

Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

What's your skincare routine for your eye area? Are you/could you be allergic or sensitive to any eye makeup products? I'm prone to eczema on my eyes, especially during the dry months. I use Mario Badescu Ceramide Eye Gel 2x a day. I have a slight carmine sensitivity so I use eyeshadows with carmine sparingly. All ABH eyeshadows irritate my eyes, so I never use them. When I have a flare up, I apply a thin layer of vaseline morning and night. I do not wear any eye makeup during a flare up. It only increases the risk of infection. Please don't be turned off by the idea of using vaseline, it is used in the healthcare industry for dry skin and cracks for a reason. Vaseline is also one of the least reactive skincare ingredients out there, suitable for most individuals, including those with sensitive skin or acne. On the comedogenic rating scale, it is 0, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores or cause acne. If your eczema is persistent or severe, go see a healthcare provider. They can prescribe a topical cream.

RE: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

My eczema seems to get really bad when my seasonal allergies are on full force.. I’ve had some steroid cream/gel and drops presecribed to me by doctors but they don’t really help much. I also put Vaseline 3-4 times a day.. the flakiness might calm a bit but the redness does not go away! I look like someone beat me up sometimes lol my friend said puts a little bit of Maracuja Oil from Tarte.. Any thoughts on that??

RE: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

Hmm i never really thought of seeing an allergist for it.. now that you’ve mentioned it I think I should!!

Lol sorry about my ted talk on vaseline before. It's the...

Lol sorry about my ted talk on vaseline before. It's the first non-prescription thing I recommend but I feel like it's unfairly stigmatized in beauty products. I've never used maracuja oil, so I can't speak on it. I do use borage oil though. CVS sells a kit of trial sized borage oil products. It helps with my redness and inflammation during a flare up. It takes me about 4 days to one week of babying to get back to normal. My eczema is not allergy-induced so the products I use might not work for you. I use hydrating and moisturizing products, along with protective creams. Hydrating products for me, contain hyaluronic acid. Moisturizing products are ones with occlusive properties. From what I've used, most products are at least moisturizing. For protective creams, I like ones that contain beeswax. Protective creams are like moisturizers but are even more occlusive. They're effective to the point that my face doesn't hurt in the dead of winter with wind whipping around. Because yours is the result of allergies, have you seen an allergist? I have bad seasonal allergies and need prescription meds to keep my symptoms at bay. Otherwise, I'm miserable and I look like I'm high on something cause my eyes turn very red and small from irritation. An allergist could better discuss with you your options, or even recommend allergy shots.

Re: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

FIRST, I would go to a dermatologist and ask what they recommend.

IF they say you just need a moisturizing eye creme, I would recommend the KIEHL'S SINCE 1851 - Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

But I really recommend you going to the doctor first and follow what he/she recommends.

RE: Re: Dry flaky eyelids ECZEMAAAA

I have seen a dermatologist and he prescribed me a gel steroid cream but it only makes the flaking worse!! My eye doctor gave me drops version of the gel cream and seems to help with the dryness but not with the redness.. I put Vaseline everyday. I’ve also tried Aquaphor but no success.. 😩
