i need a concealer and a setting powder!

hello beauties .. i have a serious problem with concealers because i have a dry skin! every time i use a concealer under my eyes and i set it with a powder it gets patchy and dry! and i never used a setting powder because i'm afraid that it will make my foundation look dry and cakey ! please help me find the right things for me cause i'm really tired of trying new things and wasting money.

I too have really, really dry skin.  I find the following approach helps.  First, I apply an eye cream twice a day.  I was lucky enough to get the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Cream from Sephora as a gift so I've been using that.  I love it because it is really hydrating and gentle.  I then use the Marc Jacobs full cover concealer and follow up with the hourglass ambient lighting powder.  Part of what I've found helps is to use a light hand with everything - the cream, concealer and powder.  I've found that as long as I don't cake things on it looks great.

I will also add that I love this powder because it seems to be really, really great for dry skin skin it doesn't make my skin look flat, if that makes sense.

Re: i need a concealer and a setting powder!

How much setting powder is being applied to the undereye region? How much concealer are you using and how is it being applied?

What powder/concealer combinations have you tried that have yielded the patching and dry look?

If your skin is naturally dry, are you addressing this matter with the use of a hydrating eye cream to improve moisture content and skin's texture?

Have you considered foregoing the setting powder? If the area is really dry, you may not need the excess product and could get away with a more durable concealer like the NARS that a couple of other ladies mentioned.

I have dry patches where my glasses hit my nose and in through the hollows and have never really been satisfied with how powder finishes in that area. But because it's dry, my concealer also doesn't tend to wander or run so I've ended up avoiding using powder there all together.

Hi @Asuhibani,

What I recommend doing is applying the Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ร‰CLAT - Radiant Touch on top of your concealer. Yes, it does seem like a lot of products to be applying under your eyes, but it works really well. The Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ร‰CLAT - Radiant Touch is extremely hydrating, doesn't stick to dry patches, and really brightens your overall complexion. I have a dry patch underneath of my left eye and anytime I apply under eye concealers or powder in that area, it looks cakey. This product will camouflage any dry patches you may have or prevent cakey-ness.

As for a setting powder, I recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. This works well for those who have dry skin types and works well as an under eye setting powder, in my opinion.

I hope this helps!

I really like the tarte setting powder. I have used that every day for the last forever lol i usually only have to do one touch up a day, and my makeup stays smooth and doesn't look flaky, cakey, or spotty! also, for the concelaer. I have a friend who SWEARS by fakeup. It conceals and mosturizes.

Spoiler
Hey! I would definitely recommend Nars Creamy Concealer for the dry skin under your eyes. It is so creamy and very pigmented, but does not dry out the under eye area. As far as setting powder, I would actually go with a translucent powder (Sephora brand has a good one) and sweep it under the eyes to set the concealer. This should prevent a lot of creasing and cakeing. Have you tried blending your concealer with a damp beauty blender? This can also help with dryness. For the translucent powder make sure you are using a good brush- the #53 brush from Sephora is good for this and I think it is on sale right now too! Good luck!! ๐Ÿ™‚
