Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@Loretta55 I’m glad the itch has subsided! I hope you don’t get stuck in eczema limbo where it’s not getting worse but also not getting better. 🤞

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Fingers are crossed 🤞 @JoSometimes.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Here are a few general recommendations that may help with these skin conditions:

  1. Eczema:

    • Keep your skin moisturized using gentle, fragrance-free moisturizers.
    • Avoid triggers such as harsh soaps, hot water, and irritating fabrics.
    • Identify and avoid any allergens or irritants that may worsen your eczema.
    • Use topical corticosteroids or other prescribed medications as directed by your dermatologist.
    • Consider wet wrap therapy, where damp clothing or bandages are applied over moisturizers or medicated creams to help hydrate the skin.
  2. Rosacea:

    • Protect your skin from the sun by using sunscreen and wearing a wide-brimmed hat.
    • Use gentle, non-irritating skincare products.
    • Identify and avoid triggers like spicy foods, alcohol, hot beverages, and extreme temperatures.
    • Consider using topical medications prescribed by a dermatologist, such as metronidazole or azelaic acid.
    • Laser therapy or other medical procedures may be recommended for severe cases.
  3. Psoriasis:

    • Keep your skin moisturized using emollients or moisturizers.
    • Avoid triggers like stress, smoking, alcohol, and certain medications.
    • Use topical treatments prescribed by your doctor, such as corticosteroids, vitamin D analogs, or retinoids.
    • Phototherapy (light therapy) or systemic medications may be recommended for moderate to severe psoriasis.
    • Practice stress management techniques as stress can worsen symptoms.

Remember, it's essential to consult with a dermatologist or healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and personalized treatment plan for your specific condition. They can provide you with tailored advice based on your needs. Sharing personal experiences and what has worked for you can indeed be helpful, but it's important to keep in mind that what works for one person may not work for everyone.

Thank you so much for sharing your tips @lumispareview

I agree, always consult with a professional. Trying to figure out on your own is not the way to go imo. 💙

Hydration is sooo important and knowing your triggers.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

I had a bad reaction to a new cleansing balm I tried. My eyes were dry and rashey for over two weeks.  I started using Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Clay Cleanser 5 oz/ 148 mL Skinfix barrier+ Triple Lipid-Boost 360° Hydrating Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL and Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream Refillable Barrier Moisturizer with Ceramides and it's the only thing that got rid of the dry flakey skin the reaction had left behind 💙

I got them all in this kit:

Skinfix Barrier+ Besties Hydrating and Nourishing Kit and I just use the tiniest bit of the the moisturizers and serums only in my eye area and I think it will last a while.

Since the rest of my face is doing well I'm using my regular items on the rest of my face.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Thanks for sharing @CynthieLu! I’m sorry to hear about your flare up. I’m going through one myself but it’s on my arms and legs. And just before summer too… 😭

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

I had to take some allergy medicine and use some prescription cream but after I was finished with it I had awfuly dry eye skin.  It's nice to see it getting back to normal.

Ooh yikes that's a big area to be affected.

I'm sorry @JoSometimes are you finding anything is working to give you some relief? Is it getting better at all?

I know what you mean, it's after winter and the awful dryness.  It's supposed to be our break from the big skin problems 💙

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@CynthieLu My prescription is providing some temporary relief, same with allergy meds. I need to refill it though. The aluminum tube is flat as a pancake.

I was using CeraVe SA lotion for rough and bumpy skin. It really helped smooth out a few rough patches on my back. I’m completely out now and need to head back to shoppers to pick up more.

The skin on my arms and legs was feeling and looking really good and I was excited to finally wear some outfits that showed off a little skin but now I’m back to square one… 😭😤🙃

I might be sharing this prematurely, but this moisturizer is absolutely amazing! My skin was on-again, off-again for flakiness after my big flare up last week. It’s been a couple of days using etude’s moisturizer, but my skin actually feels like skin again and not crumbly sandpaper! The consistency is thicker than my usual #SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL but it absorbs very well into the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or stuffy. The toner is good too. It’s much thinner than others that I’ve used, but it’s supposed to help with redness and seems to be doing a fine job at that. I found these at a small Asian beauty shop, but I also saw it on Amazon. I wish they had this at Sephora because the mall is literally across the street from where I live.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Great skin find! @JoSometimes

I have 2 Korean shops that sell beauty products in my town, but I'm not familiar with anything on their shelves 😅

I want to try it all, K-beauty and my skin get along sooooowell. I want to investigate the ingredients on this line up, I'm very curious now 😀

I wonder what they are, excuse me while I Google 🧐 lol

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@CynthieLu Etude is the brand and Soon Jung is one of their many lineups. I kept seeing it pop up on different lists of k-beauty that worked well for sensitive or eczema-prone skin, so I gave it a try. Price-wise, it’s actually comparable to my other moisturizer, so it’s not too heavy on the wallet either.

If anyone doesn’t live near a k-beauty shop and wants to order from Amazon, price plus shipping ends up being almost the same as buying in store, at least in Canada.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@CynthieLu ,

Great Idea for a Thread!

The only thing that worked for psoriasis/eczema, that I had on my neck for an embarrassingly long time, was prescription Augmented Betamethasone Cream.  My neck was RED.  The Betamethasone Cream completely cleared it up, immediately, with no return for many years now.

I use First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration – Face and Body Moisturizer for Skin Repair  on the psoriasis/eczema on the palms of my hands and my wrists every day.  It really, really helps.  I think it's the colloidal oatmeal ingredient, which is rec. for eczema treatment.

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Ooooh oats work sooo well for some people @tsavorite ( my skin doesn't mind them either 😉)

Thank you for the product reccomendation, I'm going to go investigate it now. I love hearing about item's that have helped with recovery 🩷

Sometimes medicated is the way to go. Prescription items for me, can help bring my skin back if I'm experiencing a large and stubbornly horrible breakout. For my own reasons I can't use them too often.  My skin has issues with I use them to frequently 😅

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Out of curiosity, what do you guys do when NOTHING works to stop an irritating flare up? I had the craziest flare up yesterday. My face was absolutely flushed red and I was so itchy! I tried everything I had at my disposal: more moisturizer, tower 28 spray, prescription steroid ointment, OTC antihistamine… the only thing that calmed my skin back down was a cold shower. It was an absolute nightmare!

I traced it back to my dog who made a bed out of a blanket I left on the couch overnight and then I cocooned myself in it in morning. Not doing that again…

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Ooooh that sounds painful 😧 @JoSometimes

I do my best do my best not to touch myself -at all- when that happens. My skin is so reactive, if I itch it gets 100% worse.

I won't use prescription strength creams often (its a personal issue with being mis-prescribed them years ago)

-But- in a bad emergency I will use it sparingly on areas inflamed. To calm it down and begin the healing proess.

But the same as you,  cold compress , like cool water on face towels.

How are you now? I hope your skin is much calmed 🩷

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@CynthieLu My skin’s calmed down a bit but it’s still not back to normal. There’s some flakiness and some abrasion where I scratched it. My skin was looking and feeling so much better up until that point. Back to square one again…

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@JoSometimes I'm sorry, it's completely no fun at all.

But everyday it will get a little better hopefully ‌‌💜‌‌

I think barrier repair, and time to heal. Do you have any sheet masks for calming and soothing that are active free?

Do you use vaseline? If your not using actives a little over your nightly moisturizer can help lock in hydration and it can help a bit in the recovery or on those dry skin days

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Thanks for the mask suggestion @CynthieLu! I’ve always been iffy about using them for fear of my skin not agreeing with an ingredient. There are so many choices, it’s hard to know why will and won’t work for me.

I’ve stripped back my skincare to the bare minimum for now plus my prescription to give my skin some time to recover and Aquaphor to seal it all in. Not as flakey today, just feeling dry. 😞

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

@JoSometimes I know what you mean, I was afraid of masks too for the same reasons, but some are made to sooth and they can be a real treat. I avoid anything stripping or peeling lol

I started turning over the packages of my skin care and getting familiar with the words. Eventually you get to know what is OK for you and what is a no no.

But if it has no actives and just soothing ingredients ( like ceramides, allantonin, I think worm wood and some mushrooms fall under skin soothing but don't quote me I'd have to dive into research mode to figure it out )

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

I picked up SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum and The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL. So far, I haven’t had any issues with either one. If things start to improve, I’ll update my big post with them. Fingers crossed!

Re: What works? 💜 Eczema, Rosacea, Psoriasis and Redness Support

Update: After about 2 months of use, I’m loving the SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum. Skin feels fresh and some of the discolouration from my eczema scars are slowly fading. I also put a little on a finger with a damaged cuticle and it’s starting to heal. The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL just isn’t agreeing with me. Tucking it away for now.
