โโ๐โโ Hi Everyone.โโ๐โโ

I think making place where we can share what's worked, (or working ๐ฅณ! Woo hoo!) anything you've had success with as easy information for anyone going through it.
We all know that what works for one of us, may not work for others. But hearing your success โโ๐โโ is something we can celebrate togeather!
We can encourage anyone having a hard time with thier skin. It can feel so difficult and lonely, and maybe something you have learned can help someone else along the way. Let's do what BIC's do, and help each other out โโ๐คโโ๐ฉถ
โ
Thank you so much for sharing your tips @lumispareview
I agree, always consult with a professional. Trying to figure out on your own is not the way to go imo. ๐
Hydration is sooo important and knowing your triggers.
I had a bad reaction to a new cleansing balm I tried. My eyes were dry and rashey for over two weeks. I started using Skinfix Barrier+ Foaming Clay Cleanser 5 oz/ 148 mL Skinfix barrier+ Triple Lipid-Boost 360ยฐ Hydrating Eye Cream 0.5 oz/ 15 mL and Skinfix barrier+ Strengthening and Moisturizing Triple Lipid-Peptide Refillable Cream with B-L3 and it's the only thing that got rid of the dry flakey skin the reaction had left behind ๐
I got them all in this kit:
Skinfix Barrier+ Besties Hydrating and Nourishing Kit and I just use the tiniest bit of the the moisturizers and serums only in my eye area and I think it will last a while.
Since the rest of my face is doing well I'm using my regular items on the rest of my face.
Thanks for sharing @CynthieLu! Iโm sorry to hear about your flare up. Iโm going through one myself but itโs on my arms and legs. And just before summer tooโฆ ๐ญ
I had to take some allergy medicine and use some prescription cream but after I was finished with it I had awfuly dry eye skin. It's nice to see it getting back to normal.
Ooh yikes that's a big area to be affected.
I'm sorry @JoSometimes are you finding anything is working to give you some relief? Is it getting better at all?
I know what you mean, it's after winter and the awful dryness. It's supposed to be our break from the big skin problems ๐
@CynthieLu My prescription is providing some temporary relief, same with allergy meds. I need to refill it though. The aluminum tube is flat as a pancake.
I was using CeraVe SA lotion for rough and bumpy skin. It really helped smooth out a few rough patches on my back. Iโm completely out now and need to head back to shoppers to pick up more.
The skin on my arms and legs was feeling and looking really good and I was excited to finally wear some outfits that showed off a little skin but now Iโm back to square oneโฆ ๐ญ๐ค๐
I might be sharing this prematurely, but this moisturizer is absolutely amazing! My skin was on-again, off-again for flakiness after my big flare up last week. Itโs been a couple of days using etudeโs moisturizer, but my skin actually feels like skin again and not crumbly sandpaper! The consistency is thicker than my usual #SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL but it absorbs very well into the skin and doesnโt feel sticky or stuffy. The toner is good too. Itโs much thinner than others that Iโve used, but itโs supposed to help with redness and seems to be doing a fine job at that. I found these at a small Asian beauty shop, but I also saw it on Amazon. I wish they had this at Sephora because the mall is literally across the street from where I live.
Great skin find! @JoSometimes
I have 2 Korean shops that sell beauty products in my town, but I'm not familiar with anything on their shelves ๐
I want to try it all, K-beauty and my skin get along sooooowell. I want to investigate the ingredients on this line up, I'm very curious now ๐
I wonder what they are, excuse me while I Google ๐ง lol
@CynthieLu Etude is the brand and Soon Jung is one of their many lineups. I kept seeing it pop up on different lists of k-beauty that worked well for sensitive or eczema-prone skin, so I gave it a try. Price-wise, itโs actually comparable to my other moisturizer, so itโs not too heavy on the wallet either.
If anyone doesnโt live near a k-beauty shop and wants to order from Amazon, price plus shipping ends up being almost the same as buying in store, at least in Canada.
Great Idea for a Thread!
The only thing that worked for psoriasis/eczema, that I had on my neck for an embarrassingly long time, was prescription Augmented Betamethasone Cream. My neck was RED. The Betamethasone Cream completely cleared it up, immediately, with no return for many years now.
I use First Aid Beauty Ultra Repairยฎ Cream Intense Hydration โ Face and Body Moisturizer for Skin Repair on the psoriasis/eczema on the palms of my hands and my wrists every day. It really, really helps. I think it's the colloidal oatmeal ingredient, which is rec. for eczema treatment.
Ooooh oats work sooo well for some people @tsavorite ( my skin doesn't mind them either ๐)
Thank you for the product reccomendation, I'm going to go investigate it now. I love hearing about item's that have helped with recovery ๐ฉท
Sometimes medicated is the way to go. Prescription items for me, can help bring my skin back if I'm experiencing a large and stubbornly horrible breakout. For my own reasons I can't use them too often. My skin has issues with I use them to frequently ๐
Out of curiosity, what do you guys do when NOTHING works to stop an irritating flare up? I had the craziest flare up yesterday. My face was absolutely flushed red and I was so itchy! I tried everything I had at my disposal: more moisturizer, tower 28 spray, prescription steroid ointment, OTC antihistamineโฆ the only thing that calmed my skin back down was a cold shower. It was an absolute nightmare!
I traced it back to my dog who made a bed out of a blanket I left on the couch overnight and then I cocooned myself in it in morning. Not doing that againโฆ
Ooooh that sounds painful ๐ง @JoSometimes
I do my best do my best not to touch myself -at all- when that happens. My skin is so reactive, if I itch it gets 100% worse.
I won't use prescription strength creams often (its a personal issue with being mis-prescribed them years ago)
-But- in a bad emergency I will use it sparingly on areas inflamed. To calm it down and begin the healing proess.
But the same as you, cold compress , like cool water on face towels.
How are you now? I hope your skin is much calmed ๐ฉท
@CynthieLu My skinโs calmed down a bit but itโs still not back to normal. Thereโs some flakiness and some abrasion where I scratched it. My skin was looking and feeling so much better up until that point. Back to square one againโฆ
@JoSometimes I'm sorry, it's completely no fun at all.
But everyday it will get a little better hopefully โโ๐โโ
I think barrier repair, and time to heal. Do you have any sheet masks for calming and soothing that are active free?
Do you use vaseline? If your not using actives a little over your nightly moisturizer can help lock in hydration and it can help a bit in the recovery or on those dry skin days
Thanks for the mask suggestion @CynthieLu! Iโve always been iffy about using them for fear of my skin not agreeing with an ingredient. There are so many choices, itโs hard to know why will and wonโt work for me.
Iโve stripped back my skincare to the bare minimum for now plus my prescription to give my skin some time to recover and Aquaphor to seal it all in. Not as flakey today, just feeling dry. ๐
@JoSometimes I know what you mean, I was afraid of masks too for the same reasons, but some are made to sooth and they can be a real treat. I avoid anything stripping or peeling lol
I started turning over the packages of my skin care and getting familiar with the words. Eventually you get to know what is OK for you and what is a no no.
But if it has no actives and just soothing ingredients ( like ceramides, allantonin, I think worm wood and some mushrooms fall under skin soothing but don't quote me I'd have to dive into research mode to figure it out )
I picked up SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum and The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL. So far, I havenโt had any issues with either one. If things start to improve, Iโll update my big post with them. Fingers crossed!
Update: After about 2 months of use, Iโm loving the SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum. Skin feels fresh and some of the discolouration from my eczema scars are slowly fading. I also put a little on a finger with a damaged cuticle and itโs starting to heal. The INKEY List Niacinamide Oil Control Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL just isnโt agreeing with me. Tucking it away for now.
I'm hoping over the next couple of weeks you see good results @JoSometimes
Niacinamide, over time is said to improve the skin barrier, reducing redness and pore size.
For me, it stops hormonal break outs in thier tracks. It took my skin a few weeks to adjust to it thou. โ๐โ Good luck! โ๐โ
I mentioned in other posts, I have a tiny patch of Ezcema bellow my eye/ by the bridge of my nose that was being very stubborn, it was being irritated by my glasses. It wouldn't go away.
So I had this product lying around I had totally given up on, thinking it wasn't doing much for my skin.
#The INKEY List SuperSolutions 10% Azelaic Serum Redness Relief Solution 1 oz / 30 mL
I had nothing working for me so I gave it another try, twice a day, just following the usage instructions and I am happy to say, this little spot is finally healing, less red and less noticeable ๐ฅณ I notice tiny improvements each day.
I had a reaction to something last week and got Eczema on my fingers, I used the #The INKEY List SuperSolutions 10% Azelaic Serum 1 oz / 30 mL twice a day on it and it really did speed up the healing for me. I like this stuff allot!
