To exfoliate or not to exfoliate that is the question?

Is it alright to exfoliate dry skin? I like how it makes my skin feel clean. Smiley Tongue

Hello liya888!

Exfoliating for any and all skin types is key to maintain optimal skin health! Here are some great products for you to try that are great for the skin care concerns you said you had.

Treatment Enzyme PeelAmorePacific

Treatment Enzyme Peel
What it is:
A highly effective, botanical-based brightening exfoliator made without harsh ingredients.

What it is formulated to do:
This exfoliator helps brighten and even skintone without chemical abrasives. Natural papaya enzymes work to eliminate dry, dull surface cells and toxins to reveal a soft and smooth complexion. It improves penetration of other treatment products due to removal of dead surface cells.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Sulfates
- Petrochemicals

This product will leave your skin feeling like satin! It's incredible and truly helps eliminate dead skin cells and that dehydrated layer of skin. This is going to allow your skincare to nourish your skin and give you the hydration you need.

Hope this helps!

Christine

It is okay to do it once or twice a week.  However, avoid products with bigger granules/particles in them.

If you have or are thinking about a clarisonic or similar device; grab the sensitive brush head and only use it once a week.  Depending on your tolerance level, you may be able to step it up to twice a week:  slowly and gradually.

Too much exfoliation can make dry skin very sensitive and irritated.

Yes, but use a natural gentle scrub. I like Burts Bees Citrus Facial Scrub, Avalon Organics Lavender Scrub, Origins Modern Friction and Origins Never a Dull Moment. Since dry skin is usually also sensitive, dont overexfoliate. Once or twice a week is plenty.

I have dry skin in the winter and I do exfoliate but with an exfoliator with really small beads or a chemical exfoliator. I feel like the build up of dry dead skin on my face prevents my moisturizer from absorbing into my skin. I recently started using the clarsonic. It is a little harsh for every day use but my skin does feel clean after using it.
