Sun Care Favorites for Dry Skin

A thread dedicated to spreading the gospel about your sun care favorites for dry skin.

I’ll get the ball rolling:

Hands-down, my absolute favorite sunblock brand is Supergoop! I especially love their Everyday sunscreen because it gives a nice glow and does’t mattify or cake—it also has a nice minty scent. I just love all their products; I definitely recommend this line for dry skin babes.

Re: Sun Care Favorites for Dry Skin

@Mijangos04  I have mostly-dry combo skin, so I need sunscreens that work on my oily nose area and all my dry zones. Here are my favorites:

SUPERGOOP! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 - especially around my eyes because it’s invisible, requires minimal blending (so I don’t give myself eye-rub shiners), and doesn’t irritate my eyes at all. Even if I use a different sunscreen on the rest of my face, I always use Unseen Sunscreen on my undereye, brow bone, and pretty much all around my orbital bone.

COOLA - Mineral Face SPF 30 - Matte Tint - still my favorite mineral sunscreen.

COOLA Sun Silk Face Sunscreen Drops with SPF 30 and Hyaluronic Acid 1 oz / 30 mL - love this when I want a glowy look. I know someone who uses this as his daily moisturizer because it contains olive, safflower, and jojoba oils. (Also, his skin has blue light sensitivity; this sunscreen is his favorite HEV block.) I plan to use it more often this winter.

To reapply sunscreen throughout the day: if I’m wearing any makeup besides brow pencil and lipstick, I carry SUPERGOOP! - Invincible Setting Powder SPF 45 and buff it onto my face every 2-3 hours. Otherwise, I just carry Unseen Sunscreen and apply it every few hours.

I’m currently testing Supergoop! 100% Mineral Zincscreen Lotion SPF 40 1.7 oz/ 50 mL and will test FARMACY - Green Defense Daily Mineral Sunscreen soon.

For my body (gotta wear sunscreen on all skin exposed to the sun, not just our faces), I often use any sunscreen that didn’t work well on my face. That currently includes Paula’s Choice Extra Care Non-Greasy Sunscreen SPF 50: it leaves a purplish-white cast on my face, but it’s easier to blend out on my arms and legs. I’m also using CoTZ Sensitive SPF 40 on my body because it’s much too greasy on my face—which is a shame because it blends to a completely invisible finish on my face.

I treat my lips basically the same way I treat my face: hydration, moisturizer, and sunscreen. First I tap a little water onto my lips. Then I apply a lip balm (usually Aquaphor ointment; occasionally the non-tinted Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Treatment) as a moisturizer. Then I apply Supergoop! AcaiFusion Lip Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 30 0.5 oz/ 15 mL over it as sunscreen.
