Starting Accutane - Skincare & Makeup recommendations

I'm starting Accutane in a few days. Most of my skincare routine involves salicylic acid and other active acne fight ingredients. With the dryness that Accutane causes and the intensity of my skincare, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF.

I was also wondering, what are some good foundations/bb creams that are hydrating and natural looking? I already have the Rare Beauty foundation, but the formula doesn't really work well for me.

Re: Starting Accutane - Skincare & Makeup recommendations

Hi @abbys13. I was on accutane but it was maaany years ago before I cared about skincare. I do remember it being very drying and I know if can be pretty rough on the skin for the first little bit. Itโ€™s a prescription-strength retinoid, which means a few key ingredients will be off-limits for a while. One ingredient that will really help with dryness is hyaluronic acid.

One cleanser that I like for dry skin is The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL.

For moisturizer, my go-to is #SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hyaluronic Acid Hydrator Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL. If you find that your skin is looking for more, try sandwiching some The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL in between your skin and the moisturizer. If there is an Asian beauty shop near you or youโ€™re willing to search online, I recommend Hadolabo Gokujun Lotion (itโ€™s more of serum). I actually like this one more than Inkey Listโ€™s, but itโ€™s hard to come across.

For SPF, Clarins Dry Touch Facial Sunscreen SPF 50 is another one I recommend, but lately Iโ€™ve been using COSRX Sun Cream.
