Dry skin + hormonal acne

I have dry, sensitive skin. It’s uneven and dull. I also have hormonal acne. I stopped consuming dairy products a few years ago and it helps but not enough. Anyone who has dry skin and acne knows my pain.... I feel like most products made for acne cause the skin to dry out and that’s no good to me. I’m looking for recommendations.... I want to feel good without makeup or just cc cream. I’m in my 30s. Thanks in advance

Re: Dry skin + hormonal acne

I am also in my 30s and have dry skin. I also do get hormonal acne. I have been using retinoids for many years and it has done a good job of controlling my acne. And overall I honestly just use products geared towards dry skin folks.  I do not use any salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide products which are usually marketed towards acne sufferers as they do tend to dry and irritate my skin.

Seeing a dermatologist may be quite helpful. You would need a prescription anyway to start a retinoid (aside from adapalene which is OTC) and the other thing they may recommend is spironolactone, which is a oral medication that is very helpful for hormonal acne.
