Concerned reaction

So I tried a sample size of the Intensive Hydrating serum with green tea by Innisfree a few days ago and loved it so I bought it. But when I used it for the first time ago, after it came in the mail, after a face mask the left side of my face turned red like a sunburn. I'm thinking it may be because I exfoliated before the face mask and my skin didn't like that or it is a bad reaction to the alcohol and fragrance in the serum. Super odd and never had anything like this happen before.  Anyone else ever have something like this happen?
