Concealer for dry eyelids!

Hi everyone! Usually this only happens once the weather starts getting cold in winter, but for some reason it's happening even earlier this  year.

My upper and lower eyelid skin gets so dry that no matter what I put on it for lotion, it still burns all the time. Currently I use Boscia's tsubaki face oil on my entire face, with extra on the eyes at night and in the morning. My skin doesn't feel tight after putting this on, but whenever it's time to wash my face or put on makeup. the burning is back.

For concealer,  I currently use Nars Radiant Creamy concealer, and for my SPF, I'm using It Cosmetics Skin Armour. My facewash is Boscia's Makeup Breakup oil cleanser. Sometimes at night, I'll layer my eyelids with aquaphor. Nothing is working! The rest of my face is pretty oily, so I'm confused why my eyes are like this.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a lotion OR a concealer that will help with this problem or at least prevent it from worsening? It's not even cold out yet!! I have found that scent free products tend to work better for me, as scents seem to increase the burning.

Thank you so much for your help!!

RE: Concealer for dry eyelids!

Girl you need to get you a Korean eye cream! Korea has much higher standards than the US is terms of what can be used as cosmetic ingredients-Especially in the eye area. The mizon snail repair eye cream is really nice and it's thinner. You can layer this under other@eye creams that are thicker like the hope in a jar eye from philosophy. Also as soon as I stopped using a cleanser with salicylic acid my eyeball dryness really improved. I hope that helps!

RE: Concealer for dry eyelids!

I feel ya! I have SUPER sensitive skin around my eyes to the point that even MUFE's sens-eyes makeup remover is so irritating to my skin. I have gotten really bad rashes/eczema around my eyes. That being said, I have a few tips that will hopefully help. First, stop with the aquaphor for at least two weeks. Petrolatum can actually trick your skin into not producing moisture on its own. It thinks it is well moisturized, so it stops producing enough naturally and you end up needing more and more aquaphor or whatever. Substitute for coconut oil every other night, but don't go crazy with that, either, as coconut oil can actually have the same effect on your skin's moisture levels. So crazy, I know. Secondly, try to avoid products with fragrance around your eyes. I recommend moisturizing your eye area with kiehl's avocado eye treatment. Farmacy's eye balm is also super gentle. (I can't use anti-aging products around my eyes. Sucks.) I think that tsubaki oil has quite a bit of fragrance from what I recall. Check the ingredient list. . . I double cleanse with Farmacy's green clean or Banila clean it zero purity. Then I follow up with either kiehl's ultra facial cleanser or Neogen green tea foaming cleanser. All of these are very gentle. I also strongly recommend The Ordinary's rosehip seed oil as your last step at night. It is super gentle, and I am able to get all up in my eye area with no issues. Thirdly, as for concealer, I use the Tarte concealer in the plum colored tube. Maracuja I think. It's great. Thick so you hardly need any, and it has never bothered me. I had a lot of issues with the IT Cosmetics mascara I was using, just FYI since you mentioned using their foundation. Also, the FAB ultra repair cream is a godsend and my HG. I usually use it on my legs, but I will use it on my face if I'm windburned after skiing it something. It stings like the dickens, but it stops after awhile and my skin is healed the next morning. Hopefully, you are close to a Sephora and can get some samples. Good luck!

Re: RE: Concealer for dry eyelids!

thank you so much for your help!!! I will definitely look into all those products. Good to know about the aquaphor and oil... this makes a lot of sense. Every year I feel like I try to get ahead of my eye skin completely drying out, puffing up, and burning, but never actually succeed during the winter. Hopefully this year!! I've tried the rosehip oil before. I think it made my face too oily during the day (I somehow have very oily skin everywhere but the eye, go figure), but around my eyes it was fine so I might give that another try. The farmacy balm I received a deluxe sample of, and for some reason it makes my eyes water and sting (just at the outer corners). I'm starting to think I just have a ridiculously sensitive face at this point, so I am really glad you suggested a bunch of things for me to try out, haha. Thanks again 🙂

Re: Concealer for dry eyelids!

I would try using a drop or two of fresh sea berry oil underneath your eyes right before you do your make up! I did that during the dry winter months and my makeup went on perfectly!

Re: Concealer for dry eyelids!

thank you! i've already been doing this and am more looking for a thicker cream that could help.
