Which Black-owned beauty and wellness brands do you want to see at Sephora? [Updated 5/19]

06.19.20_We're taking the 15% Pledge.png

[[UPDATE 5/19: We're excited to celebrate ROSE Ingleton MD, now at Sephora! Don't forget to visit our Black-Owned-Beauty Guide, and read the latest updates on the steps Sephora is taking to champion diversity and inclusion beyond the 15 Percent Pledge: https://www.sephora.com/beauty/belong]]

We recognize how important it is to represent Black businesses and communities, and we must do better.

You may have seen in Summer 2020 that Sephora partnered with designer Aurora James to take the 15% Pledge. The 15% Pledge is James’ nonprofit calling on retailers (like Sephora) to dedicate 15% of shelf space to Black-owned brands. Why 15%? As explained on the 15% Pledge website, “Black people in the U.S. make up nearly 15% of the population. So, we are calling on major retailers to commit a minimum of 15% of their shelf to Black-owned businesses.” We are so excited to be the first retailer to take the pledge and are looking forward to seeing others join us in the 15% Pledge. Next, we want to hear from you!*

Which Black-owned beauty and wellness brands do you want to see at Sephora? Be sure to let us know your favorite product(s), what makes this brand unique, etc.

Thank you in advance for your guidance and support. We look forward to learning from you!

*We will not be able to guarantee these brands join our Sephora brand roster, but we value your expertise as individual beauty lovers who shop outside of Sephora and our brands. Black-owned brands interested in partnering with Sephora can apply through RangeMe.

Minimo

Products are spectacular. Rose toner, face masks, lip scrub, vitamin C serum, body scrubs...all natural ingredients and care. Even coffee body scrub...which I neva would have thought I needed!

I've been a customer for 4 years straight on that rose toner for my face n neck. They deserve some Sephora love since they only seem to grow and improve their products and style.

Pholk Beauty is Black woman owned and honestly her products are absolutely amazing. That toner she has is beyond anything, I prefer it to every other toner I've ever used, and her face masks are fresh and beautiful. The lotions are sumptuous and multi purpose. The people of Jersey City love her and she's supported and stocked by all the independent stores, but I'd love to see her get even more recognition and $$$$

Welcome ROSE Ingleton MD, the latest brand spotlight on our Black-Owned Beauty Guide! Shout out to Community members @KW02  and @Kameese, who previously gave love to this stellar skincare brand earlier on this thread.

Yes, we are thrilled to celebrate another Clean Black-owned brand, now at Sephora – ROSE Ingleton MD. Dr. Ingleton is a board-certified derm who has made it her mission to address common skincare concerns like anti-aging, blemishes, dullness, redness, and hydration with clean skincare that is effective while still feeling effortless. She believes in the power of nutrient-enriched ingredients, tapping into the superfruits of her native Jamaica like bilberry, sugar maple, and sugar cane – just to name a few.

Re: Which Black-owned beauty and wellness brands do you want to see at Sephora? [Updated 5/19]

The Black-Owned Beauty Brand link now leads to a BIPOC-Owned Beauty Brand link! I wonder if Sephora changed it due to Stop Asian Hate and all the horrible anti-Asian racism being profiled (not saying there was never any anti-Asian racism, just that now it is more profiled and talked about due to the surge of anti-Asian racism and hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic ...if that makes sense). (Also side note: did anyone figure out if Rihanna owns 15% or 50% of Fenty? I hear 15% but I don't see anything backing that up other than it's a celebrity brand... I guess I'm curious as to what % do celebrities like Rihanna or Selena Gomez own of their brands?)

I'm interested in Farmacy now so Sephora did its job in marketing under-the-radar (to me) brands!

Also excited for Rose Ingleton MD! I can't afford any of the products 😅but I love that a dermatologist is the founder and creator!

Mented!  It’s an incredible makeup line.  The foundation is phenomenal.  I am 60 years old with 21 year old twins, and yet we all use the same foundation formulation.  It doesn’t age me, and it’s note heavy .  It compliments my skin and gives me  natural coverage.

Yes yes! The mented lipgloss is the best! Wish they had just one shade last lighter for foundation.
