how can someone look up my account without my card?

if someone is going into sephora and is going to buy something, and want to use my rewards card so I can get the points how can they do that without having my card? Is sephora able to look it up for them so I can get the points? and if so, how do they look it up?

My mother has given my email address as the BI account to look up, to get me credited with points from her purchases. it usually works!

In general, all you need to do is give the staff your email address at check out if you don't have your card on you / can't get the app to load, etc.
