complaint about store

I'm beyond upset with this sephora store. I go into the store to smell the sol de janerio perfume, and it smells like rubbing alcohol. I wanted to get a sample of it, and this was the exact conversation.

me: hi, is it possible for me to get a sample of this?

them: we don't give out perfume samples.

me: oh okay, i saw on your website and social media that you did tho?

them: oh yeah we do give out samples, what were you looking for

me: this one

them: we dont give out samples

What even is that supposed to mean? Ive gotten tons of perfume, foundation, skincare samples in sephora all the time. I even contacted customer service to make sure i wasn't the one in the wrong. After this i tried returning something without the receipt but with the beauty insider history, and was told it couldn't be returned without a receipt when on the return policy it says you can as long as you have the beauty insider proof. Will not be shopping here anymore.
