How can I tell if a mascara ordered online has been used?

@Leah1998 hi, I'm not an expert by any means, but I will try to help you. I never bought mascaras online, but I bought them in stores and sometimes I noticed that they have been used. If you purchase a mascara that don't have a seal on it, or you can tell that the seal is broken, or you can see there is glue on the mascara (meaning that someone before you took off the seal and some glue was left on it) usually is not a good sign. Then, the smell. If it smells off, or the original scent feels old/wear off, maybe the mascara was opened way before you purchase it. If the bristols looks dry, also is a sign that some air entered inside the tube, meaning that it's old and has already been open by someone else. This are the things that I noticed the few times I bought old/used mascaras.

Thanks for this.  When I received my mascara the box was damaged, you could tell it had already been opened before.  Then there was mascara all over the wand part, which I also found strange.  I figured it would have been pretty clean upon first opening it.
