Store credit?

Hi, I have a store credit from a free standing sephora....can tht be used towards an online purchase? I want something that is only available.online and not in any store as far as the website is concerned when I do the search within a 50 mile radius of my house...not that I'd drive that far, but I was checking. Can I use the store credit towards a purchase online? Thanks!
