Review of Southgate Mall Location

I love Sephora but I just had the worst service imaginable at the Southgate location in Edmonton, Alberta. I drove across town just to buy the Estée Lauder foundation and find the right colour for my skin. The Estée Lauder collection is only available at this location so I had no choice but to shop and ask for help there. When I arrived at the store there were numerous employees walking around not helping clients, looking in the mirror at themselves for long periods of time and completely avoiding clients in general. The only person that was helpful was the greeter who directed me to the foundation. I then asked multiple employees to help me but they all claimed they were busy but they were just talking amongst each other and none of it was work related. I tried to make it easier for them when I put two different foundation colours on q tips. I brought these q tips over to ask an employee if she could quickly tell me which colour is best for me. I personally don't know foundation that well and I needed a professional to help me. Every employee told me they were too busy but then went back to making jokes amongst each other and were all very rude. One said "you can wait 30 minutes and then maybe I'll have time for you". She then gave me a dirty look and then walked away as I was standing there holding my tester samples. I felt awful walking away clueless on what to buy. I ended up buying the wrong shade for my skin and as I walked out of the store I could hear the employees laughing about me. I'm a VIP Rouge client so I visit Sephora quite frequently and I've only had great experiences at the South Edmonton Common location. If Estée Lauder was sold there I would happily go there and I know I'd be helped. But this experience at Southgate Mall has made me want to stick to online shopping from now on. 😞
