Return without a receipt (or BI account)

I received two gift sets from my mom for Christmas that I’ve tried in the past but did not like the products in, so I’d really like to return them and get something I’d actually use as they were both fairly expensive.

BUT I can’t ask her for the receipt because she’s really sensitive about people not loving the gifts she picks and I don’t want to start a fight or offend her.

Is there any chance I’m able to return the items for store credit? It’s clearly bought from Sephora but I have no receipt nor can I give a BI phone number for the purchase.
