Return Purchase Made with Store Credit

Hello,

So I received a store credit card from a friend and I used it to purchase an item that was over the value on the card, so I made up the difference with a debit card. The item I purchased is not working out and I still have the receipt, so if I return it, what form of refund would I receive (entire amount on store credit, entire amount on card, or both)?
