Refund via PayPal...is this right?

I have placed many many orders the past 6 months. I live over 100 miles away from the nearest Sephora. One of my purchases somehow went through twice and I was charged double for my purchase. I also was sent double items. I need to return as this was not on purpose. I am planning to drive to the store to return. It was over $100 and I need this back. However, after reading online I am expecting some static with refunds when I go tomorrow. I am not interested in in-store credit as I don’t go to the store often enough and I buy items online. Also this was not submitted twice on purpose. Please let me know how to go about this. I am a rouge member but if this is the new policy I will definitely be going to Ulta. I’ve never heard of not being able to credit my debit card back through PayPal. Please advise. Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear this! If you purchased from Sephora.com with your PayPal account, our free standing Sephora store can offer a gift card, store credit or an exchange. Regretfully, our Sephora stores are unable to process a refund to your PayPal account.

If you return via mail instead will it be refunded to your PayPal account since you are not physically there in person to get a gift card? No offense I don't shop often enough at Sephora anymore and will refuse a $100 plus gift card when the money I used was from my PayPal balance. That seems very shady to lock you into purchasing only at Sephora with money that was originally NOT meant to be only with Sephora.


So again, if I mail my returns back instead of taking back in store, will my PayPal be refunded since that was my form of payment and if orders are returned back in the mail, Sephora is then obligated to refund back to original payment method which was my pays pal balance, yes?

You will be refunded back to your Paypal account if your new or gently used item is returned within 30 days of purchase. 

 

If Sephora receives your new or gently used item within 31 to 60 days of purchase, the purchase price will be refunded to an online credit that can be used at Sephora.com but is not valid for use in Sephora stores.

So in the future Sephora will give a gift card? It’s frustrating when they give me an in store credit and I cannot use it. At least a gift card is something I can use online. As I mentioned  I do live over 100 miles away.
