No Longer Supporting Visa Debit transactions

I have been ordering online from Sephora since about 2011. I have always used a visa debit (when in the US until 2011) or virtual visa (RBC issued in Canada) up until 2018. Now I cannot use my virtual visa for any payments nor can I use paypal. I tried to use my default card sometime in early 2018 (which i had used successfully in 2017) that was rejected despite successful use for 5 years prior. Then I got a new virtual visa in May 2019 to see if a new card would help and it didn't. When and why did sephora discontinue support of this payment option?
