New ideas for insider points!

Earning points is addictive, saving them for products is even more so! But what about saving them for products we specifically want or for cash coupons to use for products we want. Wouldn't that be even better?

Re: New ideas for insider points!

Hey Lovely!  That would be great.  The other day when one of my friends was here I noticed I had gotten 100 hearts.  And she said what do they do for you now? I said oh nothing.  It's really not that many, there is one lady on here that has over 1000.  And she said and you mean they didn't do anything for her?!?!  I said no, it's sorta a self satisfaction thing.  But it would be cool you get something.  Like %20 off one order.  Or free shipping on 1 order. Or any free gift of your choice under $15.  I don't know, Just little things of course, until you reach 1000,  then it would have to get larger.  We are doing a lot for your boards, that you normally would be paying someone else to do. AND you would not have the comradery and friendship that you do if you didn't have these people, particularly the VIBs (who spend a lot of money & spend a lot of time chatting it up.)  Just thinking about since she said it . . .

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I totally agree with you lovely! I absolutely LOVE sephora but I have to admit that sometimes the actual brands websites have better deal and gifts so I end up buying it from them occasionally. I usually end up with lots of points all the time because I do not really want whatever reward they currently have! It would be really great if we could have more choices for what we get as our gift. Especially when we have 500 points! That is 500 dollars and definately worth more than just one choice!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

Great ideas, ladies! I have over a thousand points and am still waiting for a must have perk to cash it in!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

P.S. I would also love if you could redeem your points without having to place an order. What if there is a perk you want and you don't need anything because you just placed an order? Maybe they could let us redeem points perks and just pay for shipping. It seems fair-- it's not like we haven't-- or won't-- spend $$ in the future!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

Hear hear!  I seem to always have around 800 points, because there is never a 500 point reward I want.  When I find a 100 point reward I want, I can only get one per order - which is frustrating, because I don't always need anything else, but I know the reward I want won't last long.  I love the idea of saving for something we really want - or having more choices at least!  I would even enjoy being able to trade in a small number of points for the chance to choose more than 3 samples at checkout.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I like the idea of trading small amounts of points for more samples!  Sometimes there are such great samples that I have a hard time choosing which to get and other times they aren't so great, it would be wonderful to get extras of the ones useful to me!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I agree with everyone here! I have a lot of points saved up but I never seem to like what is offered at the counter. I wish we would be able to use those points as a credit and purchase something we choose instead.

Also I like the idea of hearts on this website, but I wish we could collect points if we get a certain amount or something. I heart everyone who replies to my questions because I really appreciate them taking the time out to help me and I wish they would recieve points for it. I feel like that would boost Sephora's business since it would encourage members to help and recommend more products from Sephora and we end up purchasing products with our hearts.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

when you get 300 insider points you get 50 percent off your full order

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I liked the one idea one woman had of getting prizes for HEARTS as well as points. I think, also, that it would be nice if we got something for 250 points, like a coupon for an order, or buy one get one free.

And, instead of certain items, you should get a gift card type thing. Like, for 100 points, you could get a 10 dollar egift certificate, and for 500 you could get a 60 dollar one. Or something along those lines Smiley Happy

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I like all of the ideas here. For my suggestion, I think there should be a point limit that once you reach it you will get free shipping on any order that you place online domestically, this would especially apply to those who have an abundance of points [you go girls].

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I definitly agree at a certain points number there should be free shipping, I'm from canada and shipping isnt free until120$ which i mean it truly isnt long or hard to spend that much but you dont always want to if you want few things or are on a budgjet. Alwell i only joined or became and beauty insider like not even a month ago and i currently already have close to 300 points, and i have only placed 2 orders so far. I wanted to redeem my 100 points prize but once again there definitly isnt enough of options, i mean when you think about it i had to spend 100 dollars to get a 100 points when points only get me a what 12$? product that is only once in a while is changed and may never be something i want, sephora obviously makes ALOT of money and therefore i do personally think with there income and amount of product it couldnt  be hard to come up with a better point system, there are so many great ideas heree and if some were incourpriated that would be wonderful and would make ordering off this alot easier. I love sephora am so glad to have started ordering it would be great to help this slight problem out and give a little more benefit to orderers. Personally there is NO sephore where i live, meaning not that i would have to drive hours away but that i would have to fly about (500$) to the nearest capital to actually get to a sephora, more benefits are muchly needed. xoxo Smiley Happy

Re: New ideas for insider points!

These are all excellent suggestions ladies! Loving each and every one of them. Keep them coming and I'll be sure to forward them to the appropriate contact. Smiley Wink

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I think that sephora should keep the current gift giving at the100 and 500 levels, but add cumulative gifts as well. For example a person hits 100 points and redeems them for a gift, but when she spends more money she should get extra little gifts, like extra samples or free shipping for all purchases once she hits a cumulative 350 points for example. I know I spend a lot of money here because I think sephora has the best selection and I love the comments. They really help me with my purchases. But I may spend even more with extra little incentives!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I love Lovely's ideas!  There are definitely items I'd like to try and would do so if I had a reward coupon for a discount. Also love the idea regarding getting rewards for hearts!

Gotta love Sephora---my fave store!!

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I think for every review written or Q&A answered on a product page, a small amount of points should be awarded. I always read reviews and the Q&As before buying a specific product-- I think the people who write them should get some compensation. I mean, they are answering questions that sales people are hired to do, at the expense of their own time. Beauty points would be a great way to encourage review writing and provide a little incentive to answer questions on product pages. Smiley Happy

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I'm agreeing with @martka on this one right away!  I know sometimes doing reviews drives me nuts, because it takes a lot of time, especially if I was going to review EVERY item I purchased from Sephora, so if we got a point for each one that was something other that 'I like it', I'd be more inclined to make the effort.

I don't live anywhere near a Sephora - it's 350+ miles to the nearest one, but I did see a pilot in the Colorado store I visited recently where you can trade 1000 points for a special occasion makeover session and a $25 merch gift card.  Brilliant.  If I lived closer, that would be something to shoot for, at least a couple of times.

And I also give a vote for the free shipping for all orders after you've reached a certain cumulative point value for the year.  I know there are a few other sites that do that, including Stila.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I agree with everyone's suggestions! I've been a vib for years... possibly since the program existed (yikes, that's scary to think about although I suppose that was only like 2007? hmmm now i wonder when the vib program started!) I do like the occasional vib gifts & discounts, & i love the holiday offers. it would be great to have added rewards for shopping & participating online...

sephora is definitely my favorite beauty retailer, but i definitely purchase from other places bc the rewards are better. for example, i used to spend a lot on skinstore.com because they did 15%-20% off promotions very frequently, had free shipping (now its w/ $49) and had tons of samples (i don't think they have as many anymore). Their rewards program was good too - i believe 300 points was a $30 shopping credit? for a while i bought ALL of my skincare items there even if i was literally looking at it at a sephora store.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I do love everyone's ideas. What I find VERY hard to swallow is a little known fact I just found yesterday. Sephora looks at VIBs and their contributions and gives away FREE new products for their review on the website. What kills me is I cannot find any details regarding the extra freebies. I also posted my disappointment on FB and they did not seem to find this unfair in anyway! Plus there is no way to known if you even "qualify" for these extras.

Hi iheartsephora09!  Sorry to hear you didn’t feel Sephora's gratis selection was fair.  We sometimes send gratis product to a random group of our most active online community members and VIBs before launch to gather feedback about the product. You may be considered for the program in the future if you are a VIB, especially if you are a top contributor for BeautyTalk or our Ratings & Reviews.  Hopefully that helps & Happy Reviewing!

xo, Mia

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I think that to be a VIB, the amount of money should vary based on your age. I am a teen/preteen and i spend A LOT at sephora, but not enough for VIB. I think at my age, i should deserve to be because i probably shop more than your average early teen

Hi Iheartsephora09,

The items were given out based on the most active online VIB users who often review and rate items as well as contribute to Beauty Talk which is extremely helpful on our site. I'm  happy to forward your feedback regarding how the gratis items were distributed among VIB clients! Thank you for sharing your concern and thoughts with us. Smiley Happy

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I absolutely love this idea! People are spending their time writing reviews and answers to help sephora costumers. I think they should get rewarded with a small amount of points for each post. I also always read the reviews before purchasing the products and it really helps.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I love all the ideas here.  I think that at least on Beauty Talk for hearts that reach say like 100 we should get something like maybe a coupon for 10% off our order.  And for those who have say 1000 hearts should get something great like a free full size gift up to like $30.  As for the points I would love to see some more options and, like someone said, the option to just redeem the points for item instead of having to buy something to get it.  I know that I just bought something and I wanted to redeem the Naked Face Pallete but I didn't want to spend anymore money.  Also the items should be a little better cuz to get a 500 point reward it's $500 that was spent and we get what a $10 reward?  C'mon now we shosuld at least get something worth while.

Re: New ideas for insider points!

I love the ideas! I do believe Sephora has a good program but it is the freebies I am starting to hear they mail out to only selected members that bothers me. These extras are not "advertised" and no posting or FAQS on how you qualify for the random selection bi believe any bonus program should be transparent.

In addition, I believe those that requalify as a VIB multiple times in one year should get increasing discounts. Right now it is always 10% off your order. I think after that, the 2nd qualification should be 15%, 3rd time 20%. Of course there would've a cap. Maybe 50%. If I qualify as a VIB 5 times in one year, is it out of the question to get a ONE time 50% discount? If this does seem feasible, I definitely recommend atier-structure for those of us qualifying as a VIB MULTIBLE times in one year!
