My credit card was charged twice

Sephora charged me TWICE for an online order I placed in store.

 

11/3/24: placed an order for a face cream. Charged $88 in store. I received a receipt; however this amount did not appear on my credit card statement.

 

11/7: item shipped out, and my card was charged $88.

 

11/11/24: I discover on my bank statement that on 11/5/24, a charge was posted to my account in the amount of $205. I did not authorize this charge.

 

Reached out to the Sephora store manager, who told me she would look into the unauthorized $205 charge- no apology, no explanation. This charge is still on my account.


This, in my opinion, constitutes credit card fraud on the part of Sephora. Apparently, in looking through other community posts on this website, this has happened to a lot of other Sephora customers, dating back to 2015 and possibly even earlier than 2015.

As a consumer advocacy attorney, I am now contemplating a class action lawsuit against Sephora for their unfair and fraudulent business practices in charging customers more than they authorized.  Shame on Sephora! You have lost a long time customer for good and unfortunately, you defrauded the wrong person- me. For those out there who were also taken advantage of by Sephora and who never received a refund, I encourage you to contact the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint, and to also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I used to work for the FTC and Sephora’s unfair and fraudulent business practices are grounds for an FBI investigation and the imposition of major fines.

Could you help me? It says my order didn’t go through on the app and I never got an email but the money came out of my account
