Missing money from gift card

I ordered my stuff at Sephora using a gift card and debit card but some orders got cancelled. I tried using my gift card again but the balance was apparently $0, but I added everything that I was supposed to get charged up and the total is $31 while the total I had in my gift card was $44. Where is the remainder of the money?!
