-Gift card zero balance

I was at Sephora today and tried to redeem a $100 gift that I received at Christmas. I scratched off the sticker at the register, and when the associate entered the number/pin she said there was a zero balance. 
I have a receipt from Walgreens showing that the gift card was activated in the amount of $100. Could you please advise as I was the first person to scratch off the gift card today.
