Gift card scam at pacific Center Vancouver store. Daughter had a $100 gift card. Balanced check by clerk showed $100, 10 minutes later zero

Daughters was given a $100 gift card.  Went to pacific center vancouver.  Clerk checked balance and gave her a receipt showing $100 balance.  10 minutes later daughter took her items to purchase to clerk and was told the gift card had a zero balance.  Told to contact customer service and they were no help whatsoever.  Given that there was a balance confirmed and then 10 minutes later, it was gone, I do question whether or not this is employee fraud.
