Exchange, refund jc penny Sephora in store purchase with insider membership

i made a purchase at jc penny Sephora April 18, 2022 with my beauty insider account, I can’t find receipt. i want to return/exchange the item , On my insider account I can see the item listed with the location and date of purchase. but the person at JCPenney Sephora said I can’t return/exchange item without receipt. please help..?
