Disappointed With In Store Foundation Help :(

I went to Sephora this weekend to find a good foundation (or buy my old tried and true, LM tinted moisture), and I asked for help from an associate.  I started to tell the gentlemen what I wanted and he started to direct me to a new product by Givenchy. I said I like TMs and BBs cause of the light coverage but that I have acne prone skin.  He stayed right there by the product.  It was a medium to full coverage foundation.  I questioned his choice slightly, and he still kept the same product in hand without another suggestion.  I felt he wasn't listening to me.  He applied it to my face, and what I fear came true.  I could feel it, it settled in my pores, and I looked like I was wearing foundation.  I continued to tell him what I was looking for, and not only did he not suggest another product- he basically said sorry and went on to another customer. 

 

A few moments later, I was near the Givenchy aisle and another associate came up to me and tried to sell me their new powder foundation.  Same line.  I noticed the earlier associate directing another customer to the Givenchy aisle (she had obviously different skin than I) trying to sell her the same liquid foundation he applied on my face. 

 

Not only did I not buy a foundation, I am considering purchasing it from elsewhere.  I felt like I wasn't listened to, and that the associates were trying to sell the new Givenchy line for a quota or a push in sales.  Which really makes me upset, because foundation/makeup is such an intimate, unique purchase.  

 

I've been a VIB for years now.  I have shopped at Sephora for most of my products, be it skincare, hair or make up.  I can now  understand why many women feel intimidated when walking into Sephora...I hope my experience isn't others first experience with the company.
